Ms. Brutus and I typically owe each year to the IRS. I gladly pay, via personal check. We’ve never granted access to the IRS for direct deposit or payment of taxes

They don’t need direct deposit info to extract from your personal account as I discovered some time ago after a tax preparer made a painful mistake with my money

They’ve just shown that they can, without warning, claw back those deposits, even settled ones, without warning, and contrary to any law other than Trump’s (or Elon’s) vindictiveness. I’m talking about the $80M stolen back from NYC accounts, just yesterday? Or the day before?

I saw some follow-up reporting. Basically, the tool the feds used to transfer the money was an ordinary ACH, which gives them five days to undo it. The feds abused the process and ignored all the rules about appropriate use, but they exploited an existing system and didn’t need extra help from the bank
