Inside The ‘Bizarre’ Meeting Where DOGE Requested ‘Extensive System Access’ At The IRS

Like taxes are a law from Congress, right? Well, if no one else is following the laws anymore, why should we?

Maybe they only want to “correct” their own records….

Imagine Biden giving unlimited access to the IRS system to George Soros.

My local news has gone extremely local - nothing but weather, car accidents and assorted Phoenix trivia. If you watched them you might not even be sure we had an election recently.

Is Musk:

focused on “ROI,” or return on investment. In the context of the IRS, that would mean a focus on maximizing collections while keeping other costs down

OR

plans to lay off roughly 9,000 employees . . . [to] make it easier for high net worth individuals and corporations to exploit the enforcement system.

Tough call.

If they fire everyone at the IRS, how will anyone know you’re not owed a $500,000 refund?

Play their own fucking game right back.

People like me might think that if Elmo and Donnie get to keep their tax information hidden from people like me, we get to keep our tax information hidden from them.
It’s all but certain we’d be mistaken, but I can see where we might think it.

Yeah us too. We file using handwritten paper forms, and if we owe, we write a check, and if they owe us, they send a check in the mail.

Ummm. There’s this guy who collects top secret docs in his bathroom. Has Leticia heard of him?

Musk responded… with a pair of laughing and crying emojis.

Children should not be allowed in IRS facilities.

They don’t need direct deposit info to extract from your personal account as I discovered some time ago after a tax preparer made a painful mistake with my money

I saw some follow-up reporting. Basically, the tool the feds used to transfer the money was an ordinary ACH, which gives them five days to undo it. The feds abused the process and ignored all the rules about appropriate use, but they exploited an existing system and didn’t need extra help from the bank
