U.S. Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke testified before a House subcommittee Monday, submitting a 20-page document to underscore the dire threat faced by democracy without a robust Voting Rights Act.
I’m sure she is doing that too…the problem is the wall of Republicans who will refuse to shore up our democracy as they now depend on breaking it to stay in power.
“If this Act or any portion thereof is determined to be in any way unconstitutional or otherwise unenforceable by any court of final jurisdiction, each of the following shall become law, effective immediately upon finality of said judgment: (1) All federal judicial salaries shall be taxed at the rate of 95%, (2) the size of the Supreme Court shall be expanded to 900 seats, (3) it shall be mandatory to teach Critical Race Theory to all students attending any school that receives any amount of funding, directly or indirectly, from the federal government, (4) Drag Queen Story Hour is an official holiday, (5) all tax exemptions for religious organizations are repealed, and (6) the Department of Treasury is authorized to appropriate, and the Department of Health and Human Services is authorized to spend, all sums necessary to assure that each and every person throughout the world has free access to gender-affirming surgery and other medical therapies. Speaking of which, everybody in the whole damn country gets the damn vaccine, no exceptions.”
