Many of the most recent projections have this monster staying off shore; may it be so.

This storm is incredibly dangerous. About the only thing it isn’t is radioactive…yet.

I hope everyone stays safe and gets out of the way of this thing.

If Dorian was a tornado, it would now be classed as F-4 - but with a duration measured in hours and not minutes.

Although the GOP has cheapened this phrase - my sincerest thoughts & prayers go out to the people in the Bahamas experiencing a direct hit from this monster - they will need help to recover from this disaster.

I also hope this storm stays offshore of the mainland US and that people heed the warnings - the winds, waves and rain will be dangerous even if the storm stays at sea.

But even if it stays offshore it will lose energy much less rapidly as a consequence and the storm surge coupled with tides will be yuuuge. Coastal areas will be at ever increasing risk as time goes by, hurricanes get more powerful and the oceans warm.

It’s gonna drag the coast all the way up to DC, maybe even further north.

Perhaps, Trump will wish he went to Poland after all.

I was in the Bahamas years ago and saw beachfront homes missing the entire front part. You could see inside like it was a diagram. Probably from surge and not wind but still.

I bet they’re picking the lock so they can get out and take their chances with the storm.

P.S. The above sentence is political satire and constitutionally protected.

Sadly, you’re right.

The barrier islands along the coast will be devastated - not only hurting the local ecology, but these islands form natural breakwalls that protect the mainland coastline (including productive marsh lands) from the full force of storms. Already under threat from rising sea levels, the increasing power of hurricanes will accelerate their destruction.

And I do not doubt that he will get a round or two of golf in later today.

Thoughts and prayers are more than appropriate when there’s really nothing you can do to prevent a tragedy, as in this case. It’s abusive, however, when it’s all you offer when real solutions are actually available.

Damn. Maybe I should watch my TV on occasion.

The “M” on the cone is for Major Hurricane. All the way up the peninsula coast line. Look out!

So, what does the government say?

If Republicans say there’s no global warming, they lie. The government says so.
