How Trump Tried To Hijack The DOJ Before Jan. 6 - TPM – Talking Points Memo

It all came down to a showdown in the Oval Office on the evening of Jan. 3, 2021.

Trump sat behind the Resolute Desk as a skeleton staff of senior Justice Department officials joined with White House Counsel’s Office attorneys to try to prevent Jeffrey Bossert Clark, an assistant attorney general for the Environment and Natural Resources Division, from being installed as attorney general.

the committee will reveal what else it knows about the scheme to use the DOJ to interfere in the election later on Thursday.

I’ll be watching.

I’ve got a string of meetings today - do you know at what time the hearings begin?

I may have to be an octagon.

I have one meeting ends at 2p central (which is when they start), but another beginning at 3p central, which will be halfway through.

A balancing act for sure.

Doesn’t being an attorney in a criminal conspiracy - doesn’t that kind of prove that said attorney should know what maneuvers or actions are illegal?

Isn’t appearing at hearings (if needed) in the job description for Clark? Is Conspiracy Coup Clark still on the payroll? He needs to talk some more…

Each and every instinct of Donald J. Trump has criminal intent.

In other news, it’s another Supreme Court opinion announcement day, with 13 decisions left before the term ends (typically by the end of June, although in 2019 and 2020 they spilled into July IIRC), including Bruen (2d Am), Empire Health and West Viginia v EPA (Chevron deference) and, of course, Dobbs. Start looking for news around 10 ET.

Clark told Rosen on New Year’s Eve that Trump had asked whether he’d be willing to take over as acting attorney general, were Clark to be fired.

Shouldn’t that be “…were Rosen to be fired”?

Last hearing until July. Better knock it out of the park! Best not to leave uncertain whether there is proof sufficient for DOJ arrests.

That, and make sure that every school kid and every person on the street understands and can explain the importance of prosecuting the top government employees/officials who participated in this conspiracy to defraud US.

Jeffrey Clark is an especially loathsome specimen. How many ‘Clarks’ are embedded in the DOJ?

Record them! That’s what I’ve been doing.
