Given the passivity of the staff at the DOJ I am not so sure he didn’t at least partially succeed in corrupting the DOJ. They have no problem going after the MAGA dupes and even some of the Proud Boys but they become less and less aggressive the closer the scandal gets to Trump. Remember many of Nixon’s goons went to jail for their roles in Watergate.

He wants to testify only in public and he wants to see all the documents (evidence) the committee has on him before testifying. I am surprised that he didn’t ask to see the questions in advance too. The committee can always make him a deal: first you testify behind closed doors and then you get to testify in public like every other witness so far.

Checked him out. He is the former CEO of the Overstock company who was forced to resign after it was disclosed that he had an intimate relationship with Putin’s sparrow Maria Butina. Byrne embraced many election denial conspiracy theories and pushed the Arizona election audit which came up with nothing. On its face Byrne looks to be in the same league as My Pillow man Mike Lindell for being a witness. Or maybe Byrne has completely reversed his beliefs, which would be surprising.
