Funny that all those men with her let her go first, isn’t it. Why wasn’t one of them leading the way? Instead, they helped send her to her death. They all got out alive. Nice.

They tested the lines and didn’t get shot. They tangled with cops and didn’t get shot. They beat cops with their melee weapons and didn’t get shot. They bear sprayed cops and didn’t get shot. So really, it was a pretty easily tested hypothesis.
(They didn’t get shot because the cops didn’t want to get torn apart by thousands of members of an angry mob.)

Of course, all the European martyrs are from Roman Catholicism. Most (all?) Protestants don’t believe in beatification. Though it seems like the evangelically-minded Trumpers here will elide over that (i.e. probably don’t really know anything about saints and martyrs).

Babbitt was shot in the shoulder and likely bled out from a severed artery. The Gadsden Flag lady was trampled for the irony. Martyrs who actually died for their beliefs that day were the police officers who held their posts against Fat Donnie’s insurrectionists. But that doesn’t fit Republican fantasy. The prison sentences for the mob ought to start at 30 years.

Beatification isn’t quite the word you’re looking for – the process of making a saint is called canonization. Anyway, the only protestant denomination that I am aware of that recognizes sainthood is the Anglicans, and they (mostly) don’t recognize anyone who was declared a saint after the split with the Vatican.

Ashli Babbitt was a RW QAnon-believing frothing-at-the-mouth nutjob, and there is plenty of documentary evidence to prove that, including video. Perhaps that won’t matter to all of the other Trump-loving rabid white wingnuts in the GOP base, but the majority of the country isn’t going to feel very sorry for a deranged psycho who tried to break into the Capitol after being warned by the police to stand down - and which is also documented on video.
So keep fucking that chicken, guys.
