Its basically a cliche at this point that government works, but only when Democrats are put in charge.

They consulted with the medical community and testing was at the top of everyone’s list; so they did something about it. Sounds like effective leadership.

I wonder how many Duggars still live in Arkansas?

Oh, yeah. Didn’t they have like a couple dozen kids or something? Or was it beagles?

Asa Hutchinson is what happens when Miracle Whip becomes sentient.

FWIW, my toy model did a pretty good job of figuring where we are now (from March 24)

Does anyone really think that the reported cases are not a factor of 5 low?

Yeah, sure. But can you flaunt chic, colorful scarves as you caress the President with happy talk about his many fine successes?

Possibly, but it may be taking a risk hitting the Ketamine Inhaler so hard…

I’m not a huge fan of MLG for reasons not related to this issue (although I did vote for her), but she is handling this really well. New Mexico has been at the forefront of not only testing, but aggressively pursuing social distancing at a very early stage of this pandemic. I remember even my liberal friends here were not pleased with closing the schools back on March 13 (I don’t think there was even a reported case in the state at the time), but I think that has really helped limit the scope of it here.

Of course, Santa Fe is pretty much completely run on the tourist business, and with everyone canceling their vacations the rental units are now advertising for people looking to practice their social distancing up here. . . .

Spreadable may not be the most desirable attribute in the middle of a pandemic…

Of course, it helps when your equipment and reagent needs are a small fraction of what larger states would need to do the same coverage. But so many other states just haven’t bothered to try.

Good. At least you can maintain social distancing. You still might want to use hand sanitizer though.

We have been told that we can only test a certain number of people per day because that’s all the labs will allow and it’s a pitifully low number. People drive here to Dallas from all over the place to get in line for a test at one of the two drive throughs before it’s light outside. The sites reach capacity by mid-morning. And then results take weeks. It rather negates the point of the test when it takes 3 weeks to get a result.

I do not get this shit at all.

New Mexico is covered with government labs, however, which may help a lot. Not just Los Alamos, there is big labs all over the place.

She was the head of the Congressional Hispanic Conference, and her family is highly connected to NM politics.
Her cousin Ben Ray Lujan is in Congress now.

the first Democratic woman elected as governor of New Mexico, as well as the first Democratic Latina elected state chief executive in the history of the United States.

Given the family history over 12 generations, there is likely some NM Native American genetic material.

I’m not going to pursue this issue into Pocahontas territory - I just noted when she was running that when she spoke about her family she showed photographs of Natives in addition to her Hispanic family members. Lujan is a huge name on Taos Pueblo, though I am certain that there is not only one Lujan family in the state.

So she does claim it whether or not it’s for real I will withdraw the “first Native American President” comment to keep the peace. hahahaha

I’ll bet it’s real—just not primary and likely not secondary.

As I’ve pointed out many times before, when people elect people whose core ideology says that “government is the problem, not the solution”, then no one should be surprised when they turn out to really suck at governing.
