House Speaker Confirms Legislative Branch Is Now Just A Prop

The book is now closed on the Republican effort to take from the poor to extend tax breaks to the rich, all while pretending that is not what they are doing. In a 218-214 mostly party line vote, House Republicans sent the bill to the President’s desk. It will gut Medicaid, add trillions to the…

What a tragic day for democracy in the United States. We may be able to undo some of the damage, but we can’t bring back the folks who will die from this awful bill. And we can never erase this stain on our history.

Don’t worry folks — it’s all okay. We just need some wisdom from Susan Sarandon and the Bernie dead-enders to remind us how Hillary was worse than Trump. Then all of this will be okay, because all the people being cut off from food, healthcare, and essential services can live like royalty off the delicious, life-giving bounty of Progressive Purity.

The real-world consequence of their stupidity? The National Association of Community Health Centers estimates that unless something is done to mitigate against the loss of funding, the cuts in this bill could lead to at least 34,000 CHC job losses and 1,800 CHC site closures.

Anyone who didn’t vote for Hillary or Kamala is to blame, period. I hope those members of the electorate never have a moment of peace for the rest of their miserable lives.

IOW now that the Executive can effectively legislate I have no idea what my job is, or what Congress’s job is for that matter, but I’m pretty sure a rubber stamp is part of the job description provided the Executive needs it.

Banality of evil barely scratches the surface of Johnson and his confederates.

Okay, it’s almost time to metaphorically gird my loins and go down to the park where the Neighborhood Independence Day Parade is marshalling. I’ll report back on the prevalence of United States of TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP!!! flags, loaded firearms, and small children on their tricycles.

You know who else is mired in endless griping and moaning about the very unfair and terrible past? Yeah, I thought you did

I live in a smaller town in MD about 25 minutes from DC. This morning alleged ICE agents went to a park-and-ride where people were boarding a commuter bus to head into work in DC. They wore masks and carried assault rifles. They allegedly took 4-5 people physically off the bus and drove away. My community is in shock. This will only get worse now.

I’m sure that we all know that in spite of the high stakes this was theater. The Democrats knew they couldn’t stop the train but made the Republicans look as bad as they could.

And here’s what the next few years are going to look like…

I wouldn’t write off the midterm elections just yet. Trump won’t be on the ballot, the Congress critters who enabled him will be. Everyone in the House, and whoever is up in 2026 in the Senate.

We will probably be in a Recession by then, due to DOGE cuts and the tariff wars. Voters always vote based on their economic fears. Dems aren’t going to have to do any messaging for people to know what’s happening by then.

I absolutely agree, but even if we sweep the midterms it will still be a massive uphill climb to start rolling it all back while the White House is under the control of TSF. The massive effort needed to start rolling back the economic disasters, getting ICE under control, beginning the painful process of repairing the worldwide destruction of America’s international relations - it’s going to take years, and that assumes enough of the brainwashed (and brain dead) come to their senses…

Not by a longshot!

Fear, hopelessness, and resignation are what fascists want – and (literally) need.

There are way more of us than there are of them, and they know it. That’s why they’re so scared when they get out of bed every day, wondering if that day will be the last before the inevitable consequences of their corruption catches up with them.

They should be afraid, not us.

The goal will be to put the brakes on for the second half of his term with control of the House. Maybe the Senate too, which would block another SCOTUS appointment if one on the bench snuffs it. Not to roll anything back, but keep it from being worse, a complete slide into dictatorship.

Now cue the responses here about how it’s all over, he won, there will never be free elections again. I don’t believe we’re at that point yet. The No Kings marches scared them, and the courts haven’t had the last say yet.

No words. Just a tragic day. My MAGA relatives are gloating, but the ignorant fools have no idea what’s headed their way. Hard to fathom just how far we have fallen in such a short duration.

That’s the attitude! Laying down and quitting is not an option. Working hard to demoralize fellow Lefties is counterproductive. Fleeing the country … well, don’t let the door hit ya, dude.

Lots of Republicans have given up and rolled over since the Felon first took office. We got to see a few more bail this last week. They’re out of politics now. They have enabled his rise, no less than those who were actively complicit.

We should not be that way.
