- That is not impeachment: it’s expulsion. It doesn’t require a trial.
- The House just went through this full exercise with George de Volder/Santos or whatever name he’s going by today. You’ll recall there was no trial: there was an Ethics Committee report, an expulsion resolution, and a vote.
Impeachment is a political indictment followed by a political trial.
There are parallels, but they are different processes. Basically, it’s a distinction with differences. The differences are small, but they are present.

Right. By “Nope” I was agreeing with you that impeaching Sen. Chuck was not an option. The Senate can expel, or censure.
ETA and of course, Iowans have the option of not voting for him. Dude’s pushing 91 and I recall reading a strange social media post of his from a year or so ago that rambled a bit about pigeons. Perhaps he meant it to be amusing, but it was something Biden wouldn’t have a prayer of getting away with.

Have they issued subpoenas or just invitations. It will be yelling, talking over each other and generally not a good look. 25 Republicans on this committee and each one will require their 5 minutes of propaganda. I hope the Democrats organize themselves and designate a couple members to do the questioning.
Jamie Raskin and 18 other Dems are on this committee including Dan Goldman, Jasmine Crockett, Katie Porter, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jared Moskowitz, and Gerry Connolly.

It was very telling that when Hunter finally appeared in a closed door session, as Republicans long demanded, that Gomer Pyle, sorry, James Comer, did not even ask him a single question, let alone stick around for the bulk of the session.

At the time, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) insisted that Hunter was trying to “play by his own rules instead of following the rules.” In reality, it was around this time that it started to become overwhelmingly clear that House Republicans did not have the promised evidence that would show President Biden to be guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors” — or anything at all. Their star witnesses admitted as much during the first hearing for their impeachment inquiry/retribution crusade.

This is precisely what Republicans in the House censured Adam Schiff for. Except, unlike Grassley and Comer, Schiff actually had the receipts in the form of the Mueller report and an impeachment trial.
