Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) managed to guide an Israeli aid bill to passage in the House Thursday that’s dead on arrival in the Senate, but will appease his right flank.

Why have just one government shutdown when you can have 12? Genius.

A Speaker of the House who is clearly not ready for prime time elected unanimously by each and every GOP Representative.

The 2024 political ads practically write themselves.

The GOP has long ago stopped being a party that is at all concerned about actual governance or legitimate foreign policy goals. It is simply a corrupt party of conmen, grifters and anarchists who simply want to break shit and burn it all down.

Schumer already has two (maybe more) Republican yes votes regarding Ukraine: McConnell n Romney.

Mike Johnson is acting like a teenage hot rodder playing chicken.

He’s about to find out how the adults roll.

The legislation passed by a 226-196 vote, with 12 Democrats — Reps. Angie Craig (Minn.), Donald G. Davis (N.C.), Lois Frankel (Fla.), Jared Golden (Maine), Josh Gottheimer (N.J.), Greg Landsman (Ohio), Jared Moskowitz (Fla.), Darren Soto (Fla.), Haley Stevens (Mich.), Juan Vargas (Calif.), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.) and Frederica S. Wilson (Fla.) — joining most Republicans to back it.

Republican Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) voted against the measure.

Looks like a big “So what ?” to me. This Bill won’t even get a vote in the Senate. Looks like Schumer and McConnell are about ready to send their bi-partisan Bill with backing from the WH in the next week or so. Will Johnson bring it up for a vote ? Will the Dems have to get it on the floor via a Discharge Petition ?? We’ll see.

What’s even more chaotic than 1 regularly managed shut down? 12 ill managed, never been done before, sequential shutdowns!

…what amazing things could be done if these creative forces were used for good.

Yes, but what are the clowns on Fox saying about all this? The Republican electorate watches only one news source. Seriously. It’s Fox. I sometimes look, but right now I just can’t.

Those 12 Dems is why you should NEVER give to the Congressional Campaign Committees. This is terrible. The best thing to do would be all Democrats stand firm and agressively push back that this is NO WAY to help Israel. It ADDS $27 BILLION to the deficit for no good reason and shows how little the GOP care about Israel.

They missed a great opportunity handed to them on a platter, and failed both the country and our allies. No wonder the House stays in GOP control. Why vote Dem if you just get GOP Lite? Might as well go full on GOP.

This isn’t helping.

“That’s 12 shutdowns. What are we talking about?”

We’re talking about a feature, not a bug.

Ernst and Graham are probably there too I’m guessing.

Senate R’s helped House R’s (McCarthy) out, because there wasn’t any stomach for a shutdown.

Anything is possible (including Senate R’s folding), but until then,?
