I know, lets send money to a rich country that bombs refugee camps and kills children and cut off aid to another country that was invaded by a fucking bully country and then cut funding to the IRS and in the process raise the national debt. Makes perfect sense to republicans. It’s their style of “governing”.

We misunderestimate Mike Johnson at our peril. He’s a polished, intelligent Southern gentleman with deep roots in the Confederacy. He speaks law and sounds serious and reasonable, which is why he got the votes of all Republicans, even blue state country club Republicans. And his 7 Mountains mandate Christian Dominionist ideas are every bit as extreme and unamerican as Mike Flynn’s. He’s on a mission from God to replace democracy with theocracy. And he’s better positioned than Trump or Jordan or anyone else to succeed if we get caught sleepwalking, as the press currently is.

Pretty sure here that Hakeem Jeffries can count, knew that in any event this was going nowhere in the Senate, and gave dispensation to Dem members in heavily Jewish district to vote the way they did.
Please give Democratic leadership a little credit for strategizing and playing a longer game than you are visualizing.

Oh, the bill will get a vote in the Senate. They’ll take the House bill, Schumer will introduce an amendment that replaces all the text with the agreed upon arrangement with McConnell, the amendment and bill will pass and be sent back to the House for concurrence.
Spoiler - this is how the Senate gets around the Constitutional requirement that all bills on spending must ‘originate’ in the House. While they must physically come from the House, nothing prevents the Senate from replacing the entire text of the bill with their own, passing it and sending it back to the House.

Putin may be dead, but wherever he is, he must surely be enjoying late-stage Trumpism. It’s easier to break things than make things, as any three-year-old will tell you. Breaking stuff for Putin, though, is the way you get more stuff, better stuff, like access to Northeast Passage.
It is exactly this sort of ideological rigor that is causing the dolts in the House to send up this nonsense that has no chance in passing. Focus on the results, not this sort of meaningless nonsense.

I want to see what Johnson’s financial history looks like. I don’t buy this “poor good ‘ole boy from Shreveport crap - he’s got $$$ from K Street and other dens of sin that he is hiding….probably in a Church basement with the other assorted Sacraments.
