House Impeachment Managers Wrapping Up Case Against Trump | Talking Points Memo

That actual danger was perpetrated by his own actions and/or lack of same up to that point.

No donut.

But she is married to Alan Greenspan (idk if he’s still alive).

I wonder who Chuck Todd is married to.

True, but I still object to praising it as something heroic. They only did what they were supposed to do as part of their job description and oath to uphold the Constitution.

The closest thing I saw to actual heroism was the release of that recording of Trump’s Georgia phone call to subvert the election. And that was more CYA than true heroism. Heroism would have been any of these GOP’ers speaking out more directly about what Trump was doing.

Imagine drawing one of them to be their Secret Santa.

I refuse to call her by name. I prefer “Mrs. Greenspan” although maybe “Greene Spawn” is more appropriate.

I haven’t see any beatification of Pence. I’ve seen it be recognized that he refuse to cross a line wrt Congressional certification of the election and took a stand against Trump on that. I’ve seen his absolute fury in the resumed session as MTG and others in the House bloviated about “objection” w/o Senate support. And I saw the designs on his life for doing so. The horror that is Trump is what this is all about. No one is claiming Sainthood for Pence

False

And both of those events were after a long sequence of actions in trump’s favor. It’s almost as if a few republicans still have limits past which they won’t go in the pursuit of power. Like the mob bosses who decided there were some rackets that were too evil to get into. And were soon enough replaced by mobsters with fewer qualms.

What option do you think Pence had? To look and be a fool? All Pence had power to do is preside; he could not change or stop the results of the election. I don’t see what heroism there is is doing the only thing one could ever do. It’s like making a weatherman a hero because the pointed out that the sun rose in the morning.

Stop already with the moronic strawmen. No one is saying Pence is a hero

Because Pence (if that’s who we’re talking about) tried to have it both ways, being the hero while covering up the cause of the danger they were all in.

When the EC count resumed later that night, he denounced the rioters as if they appeared out of thin air, and didn’t denounce Trump as the root cause. That would have been heroism. Instead, he slithered back to the WH in the following days and “made up” with Trump, according to reports. He’s a toady, not a hero.

I have no doubt that everyone expressing some hope/thoughts that some minds were changed is well aware that assholes like Thune and Lee won’t be one of them. I doubt a single Dem is banking on the possibility of attracting 17 Republicans to convict. But it doesn’t hurt for Dems to be out there saying that the evidence is powerful enough that it should change minds because it should and it would if the GQP weren’t so thoroughly morally bankrupt.

 Okay, point out when he first admitted Biden won the election.

On Wed the 4th? Nope.

On Dec 14th? Nope.

Biden and Schumer of course are correct. In the public outside of Congress that paid attention to the news of this trial, that saw the evidence, it will have changed some minds.

But the Republican party was part of this scheme with Benadick Donnie. The best that those politicians could have hoped was to bury the evidence. Not happening.

Irrelevant.

If you’d stop trying to put words in my mouth, you’d be able to see that for yourself
