House Impeachment Managers Wrapping Up Case Against Trump | Talking Points Memo

Ted is proof that one thing worse than a pedantic child is a pedantic adult.

Two observations:

First, I love ya President Biden, but hard asses like Mike Lee and John Thune will not be swayed by even the thought of their own colleagues being attacked or killed by the 1/6 Insurrectionists.

Second, Tommy Tuberville is a dumbass.

It’ll be the first annual DC Antifa BLM Film festival with filmed comments by Dems approving their actions.

Trump’s influence will fade but the events of 1/6 will remain historic. The stain on those who vote to acquit will not fade, but will rather grow with time as their complicity becomes increasingly problematic for them

Same here. I was cringing every time the House managers praised Pence yesterday. No, he didn’t “do the right thing” as some kind of hero. He did the goddamned job he was supposed to do, as a public servant on our taxpayer dime.

I mean, yes, I understand it’s a necessary tactic to show the nonpartisan nature of the prosecution. Toss a bone to the other side. But it’s still maddening…

I had to look her up. I had no idea who she was. Now I know that, like Tuberville, she’s an imbecile.

Cruz’s principles share at least one characteristic with WIlliam Shakespeare: Both are dead and buried.

To be fair, he and a handful of other Republicans doing the right thing kept this from being a hell of a lot worse.

Just think if Georgia had caved, for example.

Or if DOJ hadn’t ultimately stood up to him.

Castor said in a text message obtained by the WSJ early Wednesday that he had previously planned for his associate, Michael van der Veen, to discuss First Amendment and due-process arguments during a presentation by the defense team on Friday. But that could be changed because “David was so good in the professor type.”

And this is what happens when a dignity wraith gets wraithed.

Never before has someone been patted on the back so much for simply doing their damn job.

Doing his job in the face of death threats if he proceeded. Why do we praise Goodman then if not for that?

Not to mention Democrats are trying like crazy to avoid the appearance of partisanship, and they hope to bring at least a few Republicans on board as well. Even if they don’t convict, being able to say votes for conviction were bipartisan (and the more of them the better) is a goal.

If you want to carry water for the guy that killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, I won’t stop ya.

In today’s GOP, doing your job and following the Constitution is a heroic act for a politician. Doesn’t make them my heroes, but it does separate them from the pack.

I’m no fan of Pence but that doesn’t keep me from recognizing that he made the right choices for the 1/6 session and that he did so in the face of actual danger to himself and family

  1. Tuberville informs Trump Pence is in danger.

  2. Trump tweets:

Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

  1. Pence’s life is threatened by an angry mob.

And we all know how Pence reacted to the plot to potentially kill him.

This Beatification of Pence is a dumb (when Pence runs for POTUS, these words will come back to bite us), and obvious ploy. Pence did his job should be the story and the Capitol police tried to do theirs. The one who failed to do his job was Trump. End of story.
