House GOPers Call For Capitol Fencing To Be Removed Using Classic ‘Move Forward’ Rhetoric | Talking Points Memo

I think they’ve all known, or at least had pretty good suspicions, from the beginning. Just thinking back to that video of the Rep trying to hand masks to the sedition caucus and how relaxed, calm, and smug they were. I could never place what was so off about that video, but that’s what it was. Other members looked at least stressed or unnerved. Not those fools. They looked like it was five o’clock on a Friday and they’d just cracked a cold one before a long three day weekend.

Wait. Are these the same people who said nothing as Trump erected barricade after barricade, with sharpshooters poised on the roof of the People’s House, as he slinked away into a fortified bunker?

Exactly…the disdainful smirks at the masks…and the four guys gathered around MTG as if she was actually attractive was nauseating. All happy , without a care in the world.

I think Democrats should respond by passing a resolution naming the fencing.

In fact we should have a contest to determine the best name. Well I am not good at this, my suggestion is “Hawley way” or “losers out”.

Yes! It was like they were at a bar crowding around some PYT, throwing their heads back laughing and having a grand old time. It also explains why so many Democratic members are still genuinely terrified. It’s not just that the threat from the GQP base remains, it’s that the threat is coming from inside the House. I just hope they can prove it.

We must move forward making Pearl Harbor and 9/11 just day days.

Hey, while we are at it. 12/25 can be a day day too. Yea, Merry Day-mas.

There is something extremely broken in these people to take the tact of a immature brat trying to avoid responsibility for whatever over the top crap they pulled. Lets just get past it, let bygones be bygones. This is edging into territory they cannot recover from. Afraid for their careers or whatever grift they are pulling, it is becoming so apparent they are making a mockery out of themselves.

The GoP request reminds me of the recently discovered correspondence sent by the Vikings to those monks who survived the former’s devastating raid on their abbey on Lindisfarne island, 793 CE.

It’s time. It’s time for healing and it’s time for the removal of your wooden palisade and for filling in your defensive ditch so that we may move forward.

This quietly snuck up on me when I watched it. Kicked in after I went to the next posting. She just said one of the most powerful comments I have seen go by since Biden took the position. Just plainly said without even an air of performance attached.

It needs to be elevated.

[You may have to look through several clips of her briefing. I cannot isolate this specific one on the link for some reason. ]

They want it gone when the Senate impeachment trial begins. Better optics for acquittal

It should come down, as should the many layers of barriers Trump erected around the WH grounds. No way should any of those be allowed to become permanent.

They should come down. But not yet.

Speaker Pelosi, tear down this barbed wire fencing that was rightly installed because of our caucus’s seditious acts…doesn’t have quite the ring of Ronald Reagan at the Brandenburg gate.

Yet another manufactured excuse for fabricated outrage.

These people’s brains are smoother than a teflon dildo…

I’ve already been corrected.

Sufficient manpower and the will to use force and immediate arrests would have stopped it the first time. It was an intelligence failure more than anything, helped by sympathizers among those in control of the CP and Guard in the Trump administration that slowed the response.

I don’t want to see the fencing made permanent, although it should stay up until after the trial is over. Instead of turning the Capitol into another militarized Iraqi Green Zone, we just need better advance intelligence to prepare for protests with a heavy enough police and Guard presence instead of fencing. People should still be able to protest a the Capitol using their 1st Amendment rights as long as it’s peaceful.

Well, you make this point yourself, that the worst and most dangerous threat comes from within the House and Senate, so what’s the point of a fence that can only protect from outsiders?
