House GOPers Call For Capitol Fencing To Be Removed Using Classic ‘Move Forward’ Rhetoric | Talking Points Memo

Understandably, certain increased security measures following that date were implemented. But it is time for Congress and its representatives to stop hiding.

Congress is actually getting shit done. Something we haven’t seen in four plus years, unless you count appointing unqualified federal judges.

Maybe 45 can come out of hiding and come on down to congress to answer some questions under oath.

So it’s been 30 days since a mob stormed the Capitol, how long were we on high alert after 9/11?

And until after March 4th when Trump is supposed to be inaugurated as the 19th President. /qanon

Their ideology suggests the 1850s, complete with slavery, no income tax and no women’s right to vote, but it’s hard to reconcile that with “forward.” Back to the Future?

We can talk about that when the militant crazies you serve as handmaidens have gone back in their holes.

After impeachment and whatever craziness comes up from that, if you guys can put your big boy and big girl pants on and commit to the act of governing, then they should take the fence down.

‘Funny’ how they weren’t concerned about the ‘fencing’ around the WH when Trump etal felt ‘threatened’…

Give them this and they’ll move on to wanting the security screeners/metal detectors removed from entrances.

Just wondering if Pelosi knows the identities of House members under investigation for conspiring with the attackers? Just a guess that she does due to high level briefings.

The people who call Capitol Hill home live day in and out with fences, military trucks, and military personnel in their backyards, on their way to work, to school, or the grocery store,” the group wrote, suggesting that a decision to keep the fencing stood in the way of the country’s value of freedom.

I live near Cap Hill and though it’s currently a minor problem for me, it’s nice to know that there are 42 modern Republicans who support DC statehood, right?

They realize they cannot stage the full-scale assault on the Congress with the fencing in place.

Fuck 'Em. Leave it there until ALL of the Seditionists are in jail.

How about “fuck no and STFU, seditionists?”

I think we all want the fence to come down…having walked around the Capitol a few times the idea of it being fenced in really does bother me. Permanent fencing just wouldn’t be in the spirit of the building; security upgrades that avoid fencing would be best.

However, there’s still an active threat that the same people that stormed the Capitol could do it again, as they already threatened to do so during the first insurrection. And, they threatened to come back armed. Until the feds secure the people conspiring to do this, until the rhetoric slows down enough that it appears safe, the fencing probably has to stay up to discourage the Capitol as a target. That’s likely going to be a couple months at least, maybe a lot of this year. It’s also important that Republicans start to operate within democratic rules again…as long as a large fraction of them continue to encourage lies and sedition we won’t see a safe enough environment for the fencing to come down.

There’s still a war coming…it’s not clear right now what’s going on, as the bad guys have probably pulled back a bit while the feds are moving on the people who invaded the Capitol. They will be back though, they will start to move against the liberal government anywhere they can…I suspect we’ll start to see more vocal activity after the impeachment trial. Once Trump is acquitted by the Republicans he’ll probably start making noise again and encouraging people to sabotage Biden’s presidency…that’s when things will start to ramp up again.

Just like with the deficit and ‘unity’ scolds, the best that can be said about this is that it’s fucking concern trolling.
It should be treated as such and disregarded until the security situation warrants a change.
And, by the way, I never heard such bitching from these trolls when Donnie turned the White House into a fortified strong point to save himself from unarmed and and largely peaceful BLM protesters.

So they can just do it again, and succeed this time?

What kind and how much will it cost?

Should McCarthy get the gavel in '22, it shouldn’t shock anyone to see him go for cheaper measures.

Tap their phones and we will find out when the next attack is planned.

It’s finally dawned on me that this is what they mean – they want their mob to “move forward” toward the Capitol and invade it again.
