After two days of back and forth that involved House Republican leadership delaying a vote on the Senate-approved budget resolution, Republicans’ “one, big beautiful” budget blueprint passed the House in a 216-214 vote Thursday morning, unlocking the reconciliation process. Only two House Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Victoria Spartz (R-IN) — broke with…

This is going to be really bad for rural America and MAGA… buckle up.

Unfortunately not just them - though it will destroy rural healthcare.

Are they talking about $1.5T in one year - total spend is $6.75T, so that’s 22% of the total budget. Discretionary spending is $1.8T, and half of that is the War Department, which is inviolable.

I don’t think depression is a big enough word to capture what will happen if they somehow manage that.

Johnson said Republicans are “committed to finding at least $1.5 trillion in savings for the American people while also preserving our essential programs,” adding that they will “aim much higher” than just the $1.5 trillion.

Who are these ‘American people’ who will benefit from having this spending cut?
You know, like who’s not benefitting from the funded programs?

They are those among the very rich American people who particularly despise their fellow countrymen and -women. It’s a great group. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are leading members and are avidly looking forward to the concrete results they’ll see from this big beautiful bill.

The disingenuousness of present-day Republicans is almost beyond belief.

That’s a 10 year projection. They’re looking at cutting $150 billion from Medicare and Medicaid. There’s not that much fat.

I doubt there is much fat at all. Not like what big businesses build into contracts. This is just BS to justify the cuts.

So tired of the lying. My entire lifetime I’ve been listening to this one lie, every day, every week, every minute. All these stacks and stacks of money they’re going to save, and the deficit will quadruple. And the cult never asks “Where did all the money go?” They just sit there stewing about non-white people getting two meals a day instead of a half meal.

Tuesday night, speaking at the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner, Trump called on the holdouts, saying: “Close your eyes and get there. It’s a phenomenal bill. Stop grandstanding.”

“If we don’t get it done because of stupidity or a couple of people who want to show how great they are, you just have to laugh at them or smile at them or cry right in their face,” he said.

Tinpot dictator or sixth grade bully? You choose.

the “one, big, beautiful” budget resolution

Is it really necessary to promote Donald’s branding as relevant news?

Republicans could pass twenty budget resolutions, Trump would still call it one and big, and reporters would jot it down thinking it enhances the story. It does not.

The brand becomes the issue. The reality ignored.

Not savings for the people. Savings for the oligarchs.

Also bill passed to make women show ID proving they are citizens to vote.

OT. I sent in the application to renew my passport.
I received it 2 weeks after Mailing in the application. It was expedited but I assumed it would take a few months. Now we can plan vacation in Canada.

If we’re able to have elections in two years, the backlash will be severe. Getting there with some semblance of governance and fair elections intact will be the challenge.

“House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) publicly promised early Thursday morning that Republicans will find ways to reduce the deficit by at least $1.5 trillion during the reconciliation process.”

Reduce the deficit? What utter bullshit. They’re planning on EXTENDING tax breaks for the wealthiest from the expiring 2017 Trump 1.0 “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act”. This will ADD, NOT SUBTRACT $5.7 trillion to our national debt. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/republican-controlled-us-house-try-again-trump-tax-cuts-bill-2025-04-10/
