Hello it’s the weekend. This is The Weekender House Republicans are hoping the public breakup between President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk does not last very long for the sake of the “big, beautiful” reconciliation bill. Thursday’s news cycle was dominated by the clash between the President and the world’s richest man and…
One can hope.
More importantly, what does Geraldo Rivera think?
Tip of the hat to Nicole for the great writing for this edition of The Weekender ! Kombo Kat is very impressed !
@ralph_vonholst got “Midnight At The Oasis” stuck in my head for the last week. Beware. He’s reckless and doesn’t care who gets hurt with his wanton postings.
I actually played the song this morning in hopes I would OD and break the cycle. We’ll see if it worked.
However, this effort to have the committee dedicated to oversight provide some actual oversight of Musk was quickly derailed. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who was serving as chairwoman, almost immediately called to “suspend” the proceedings. She then presided over a more than twenty minute delay as she strained the bounds of normal procedure to buy time for her colleagues to make their way to the hearing. The extended interlude was filled with surreal scenes as Democratic members attempted to question Mace and move forward with business as usual.
At one point, even though Republicans were evidently outnumbered and outvoted, Mace declared that they had won a voice vote to consider a motion to table Lynch’s motion. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) attempted to speak at this point and was shut down.
“I love you,” Mace said to him. “This is not debatable.”
Mace did not respond to a request for comment.

And yet, Mace was unstoppable in usurping the Oversight Committee to slime and defame her ex with heinous and unfounded accusations of sex crimes.
Thursday’s news cycle was dominated by the clash between the President and the world’s richest man and their petty attacks on each other — which included mentions of Jeffrey Epstein, impeachment, black-eye makeup, as well as a back and forth over the contents of the reconciliation package the House recently passed.
Let’s not forget, “casting shade on the outcomes in the last national election.”
As Kevin Kruse put it,
“ And meanwhile, supplies of the “Let Them Fight” gif reached critical lows.”
You never know with such notorious, narcissistic individuals other than that their approach to life is one of expediency. If it benefits their egos and grappling for power, they met yet reconcile and act as if this was the plan all along and others were wrong, insane even, to assume otherwise.
Very disturbing. AP is not comprised of DC bureaucrats and the President doesn’t have the authority to rename international bodies of water no more that renaming the Moon, the “Moon of America” (there’s even a flag there).
Also, why is he retweeting a robot account?
A look into Rep. Nancy Mace’s (R-SC) dirty…
Hey now!
…stalling tactics
Okay.
“I believe there’s a Diet Coke in their future, that they can settle it and cooler heads will prevail,” Bean said. “We need them together. We need to be united, and we’re stronger together. So I’m very optimistic that there will be a happy ending very soon.”
Surely there’s an off color joke in there somewhere.
Say there is damaging information in the Epstein files implicating Trump in inappropriate or illegal behavior. Those files are in control of Federal law enforcement agencies. Which Trump controls. With leaders and officers beholden to him for their jobs, and future professional prospects. Why in the hell would we believe any release would include information that hurt Trump? If Bondi and Patel said “There, that’s everything, all right there in that stack on docs, on the table” would anyone with half a brain find that credible?
Trump should just sue the AP for a $billion. Then they can set about spending $20 million in legal fees over the course of several years fighting it. Or just stroke him a check for the $20 million to make it go away.
A statement on the internet does not have to be true and often is not, but many people will still believe it.
And, the MAGA cult can hold incongruous ideas in their minds very capably, so that even if they believe it, they still might think Donald Trump is one fine guy.
