House Democrats Claw Back New York Seats As Race For Chamber Continues

Originally published at: House Democrats Claw Back New York Seats As Race For Chamber Continues - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Democrats won back three House seats in New York that they lost in 2022. Republicans still have the edge for House control, with prognosticators like Decision Desk HQ giving them an over 90 percent chance of keeping the majority. Still, every race will matter; the narrower the Republican House majority, if they do keep it,…

How will voters know that Biden/Harris was great and the Trump Recession II is on Repubs? Will the Dem minority be ready on Day 1 to pummel the media with a disciplined message of doom and dread every day, like Repubs always are?

You wish! Still and all, I expect enough disaster during this administration* than last time. The American voting public will get more than they asked for.

Pelosi said they had the votes to retake the House. If even she was off with her vote totals, we need a shakeup of Dem leadership (I know she’s not Minority Leader and is just Speaker Emeritus now) because it shows that they’ve lost their touch and can’t be relied on to win modern elections.

We can’t be caught flat footed like this again because every bit of progress is now at risk of going down the drain.

Start printing the ‘Don’t blame me, I voted for Harris’ bumper stickers.
Of course the brown lips will come and take you away.

Indeed.

Time to get started. Trump announced tariffs on cars from Mexico. This means GeneralMotors, Nissan, Audi, VW vehicles will all cost more. This means parts for service will have shortage plus cost more. How will Japan & Germany respond? Likely with tariffs on goods exported from USA.

The working class will pay more for cars, shoes, clothes, toys.

Trump is raising cost of living & driving inflation sky high.

This is who American voters gave mandate on economy by electing him with popular & EC vote.

The DoJ policy regarding not pursuing a sitting president stems from two memos. The first was during the Nixon Watergate debacle. The second followed Bill Clinton’s blow job.
The tragedy here is that no subsequent administration’s DoJ thought to void those memos.
This policy, in effect, put the president above the law even before the Supreme Court did.

The part that irks even more is it’s not a policy. It’s 2 memos, as you stated. I heard Lani Davis say to Coates, on CNN last night, he doesn’t think Marchan should sentence Trump to incarceration as former President.

I was screaming at TV. Why tf not? If no individual is above the law then being President is no exception. Even if it’s not done during his term, he certainly should be imprisoned once the term ends.

It is infuriating how they come up with these exceptions. Lock him up.

Well, in fairness to Lanny Davis, he is Lanny Davis, so he’s going to say obnoxious things as sure as he breathes.

“He knew well that the blockade served Republican interests — they could still do tax cuts and judicial nominations with it in place, and ensure that Democrats can never deliver on huge swaths of their agenda.”

I’m really tired of the playing field favoring the people who like to hurt people.

Completely agree and it strikes me that Ms. Riga posted a perfectly good starting point in her post.

Some of the right have been criticizing Casey for refusing to concede, citing the AP call and calling him an election denier. Casey, and the secretary of state, insisted that there was too much vote left to count. McCormick’s behavior here seems to indicate that he agrees. (emphasis added)

We can start by loudly and publicly citing the PA-Senate race and insisting they count all the legal votes!! :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

ETA: Since this guy’s already a Blue Dog, I’d strongly suggest the PA state Dems (from Gov. Shapiro on down) should take care to ensure Burns STAYS a Dem. A la NC, Republican’ts certainly have every incentive to bribe him into a party change!! :face_with_raised_eyebrow: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

A very good start, in my opinion, would be a long offensive to explain to The American Public just how these “tariff” things actually work. I could not believe that no Democrat (as far as I knew) did this during the long, long, LONG campaign.

For that matter, neither VP Harris nor VP-nominee Walz explained the Constitutional powers of the Veep, either. Lost opportunities to teach a woefully ignorant citizenry, who then voted their ignorance.

The republicans will nuke the filibuster as soon as democrats deploy it, and the only reason they will wait that long is so they can blame democrats for “forcing” them to do it.

Not really. Because no one listens to the explanations anymore, they want sound bites.

McCormick Sues To Stop Counting Of Likely Casey-Friendly Ballots

Despite declaring victory and asserting that there’s no way Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) can catch up, Republican Dave McCormick filed two lawsuits in Philadelphia on Friday, challenging broad categories of provisional ballots.

[…]

Previously…

In the 2022 republican primary in which he eventually lost to Mehmet Oz, McCormick sued to continue counting ballots!

I am so motherfucking fed up with the whole fucking fetid mess.

Limp dick Democrats are too afraid to do what needs to be done even when they win. But the fucking right just jams through whatever they want and then dare us to fix their mess. Or shift blame. I swear to Christ the fucking Democrats are a goddamned abused spouse who keeps hoping for her spouse to be a good man. It ain’t working. Never has, never will. So when the fuck are we gonna fight these motherfuckers?

Yes! For first time, TODAY, media had segment explaining tariffs! He used sneakers as example. Told the viewers what this 60% tariff means, that the $100 sneaker will now cost $160. Very simple & easy to explain.

I was like, why was this not on 24/7 during Harris campaign…smh!
