kneeling at the alter of the ex-president
I like the verbal noun (one of the definitions of “alter” is “castrate”).

Out of curiosity, what doe J.D. Vance see as his base? He wants to get elected as a Senator from Ohio, so what part of the electorate is he appealing to? The poor, rural whites that he is so dismissive of? Hillbillies who are Tiger Mom wannabes?I have a hard time figuring out where he fits in in MAGAworld, exactly.
He has name recognition and he’s pro-trump. And he will say anything he thinks will get him elected, with the absolute sincerely that only a professional flack can muster. Oh, and he has conservative friends with money.
Principles? Positions? That’s so mid-20th century republican.
I don’t believe Mr. Vance had a clue who the “elites” were when he wrote his book. My reading is that he compared his subculture to what I would label as mainstream normal. Those of us who don’t think the government is out to get us, who don’t think most problems can be solved with gun violence, those who are concerned about the education of our children and their futures.
For my money, the “elites” are celebrities and the obscenely rich, the very people he has aligned himself with.
As if SOMEHOW this shows that these candidates have ‘evolved’…to the rest of us they just look like pandering kitties.
