Hice Says He Shouldn’t Be Forced To Testify In Fulton County DA Probe

A lawyer for Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) on Monday filed a motion to quash the subpoena issued by the Fulton County special grand jury seeking his testimony in its investigation into former President Trump’s efforts to subvert the 2020 election results in Georgia.

You don’t make the rules, buddy. You do what you’re told and stop being whiny little b***h.

Gee, do you suppose he‘s worried about something?

Evidently if you’re an R congressperson, everything beyond breathing is protected by this.

Once again a cult affiliated politician seems to think laws do not apply to them. And seems to have no inclination to aid an investigation into possible election crimes. It’s because they are patriots, of course.

“Do you know who I am?” may work on a beat cop who pulled you over for going the wrong way on a one-way, but I hope it’s not as convincing to a judge or the DA.

The arrogance of these a**holes is astonishing.

In the motion filed in Fulton County Superior Court, Hice’s lawyer, Loree Anne Paradise, argued that the GOP congressman shouldn’t be forced to testify, citing the Constitution’s “Speech or Debate” clause that Paradise claims shields members of Congress from being questioned in court on issues related to their legislative activities.

True enough, legislative activities are shielded.
On the other hand, however, coup plotting or, more narrowly in this case, conspiring to exercise corrupting influence on an election, while political, are not legislative. (ed.)

So, we are to believe that a federal office holder urging state officials to create a false slate of electors is protected by the “speech and debate” clause? That dog ain’t gonna hunt, Jody.

By running against Raffensperger, Hice couldn’t run for reelection. So he is very close to being a radio talking pastor again, railing against all joy and hope.

Narrator’s Voice: “Actually, it doesn’t.”

And to the Congressman, I’d just like to say this:

WAH FUCKING WAH

“Simply put, Congressman Hice had a right and a duty to inform himself and colleagues about any allegations relating to the election so that he could properly vote on whether to certify the election in his capacity as a member of Congress,”

I don’t know. If this had been a good faith effort to inform himself, wouldn’t he have then voted properly?

I’ve always been confused about how people who are supposed to be so enamored of the “Good Word” are so negative and full of apparent despair.

I can smell Hice’s flop sweat from here.

"…Shouldn’t be forced…?

Okay then :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

(he self-forced his way out of Congress in an ill-advised run against Raff…)

Chris Christie says otherwise.

According to The Star-Ledger – attributing a police report – Republican candidate for Governor Chris Christie in 2002 got lost in Elizabeth and attempted to turn right onto a street that was one-way in the other direction. A motorcycle was riding toward him; both hit the brakes; the bike slid into Christie’s car, and the biker ended up in an ambulance to University Hospital in Newark. The extent of the biker’s injuries is unknown. Christie walked away uninjured, and without a ticket.

Here’s MY idea: the ten GOP Reps who were in on the December 19 meeting are all (I think) in safe GOP districts. I would LOVE it IF they get re-elected and Garland indicts them the day after the election. THEY WILL THEN (by Congressional agreement) have NO VOTES so even IF the GOP ‘might’ win by a few seats, they lose TEN voting Congressmen who cannot vote for McCarthy!

Well, an old lady can DREAM, right?

I think Hice will find couping and criming are not covered under the ‘Speech or Debate’ clause.

I look forward to Hice being held in contempt of court for not complying with the subpoena.
