Herschel Walker Cancels Fundraiser With Supporter Who Had Swastika Profile Pic | Talking Points Memo

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things.

Herschel Walker, the football great who embraced Trump and is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA), has called off a fundraising event in Texas with an anti-vaccine film producer who had a graphic of needles formed as a swastika in her Twitter profile picture.

I guess everyone has their limit. Drawing the line on Nazi symbols shows extraordinary bravery. Even with “good Nazis”.

I remember when the right shrieked and wailed and rended their clothes when a few nobodies on DU posted Nazi memes when W was president.

Good times.

“My campaign continues to maintain that a needle swastika isn’t a swastika, but in light of the fact that a needle swastika actually is a swastika, we now find the needle swastika offensive and not expressive of the values of Herschel Walker and the very fine people in his campaign.”

Fucking idiot.

At first I was going to go into my usual rant questioning how prominent Black figures can support people like Mr. Trump and the GOP/MAGA in general. I then remembered that there have always been significant segments of the Black community that were deeply socially conservative, or that believed the problems in the community were mainly caused by a lack of personal initiative and personal effort. Also, even people who are deeply racist like Mr. Trump can be extremely supportive of and friendly with certain individual Black people that they view as different or role models. Of course, these qualifiers still require Mr. Walker to ignore the fact that most of his fellow MAGA followers would like to “Send him back to Africa”.

Exactly. Sort of like Lynn Cheney. She is perfectly OK with 99% of the filth of RepubliQan. But at least she draws the line at attacking the U. S. Capital, killing police officers, and trying to kill the VP & Speaker.

Mornin’

An influx of confused self-driving cars has been swarming a nominally peaceful San Francisco neighborhood for “six, eight weeks, maybe more,” according to residents. The vehicles, part of the Waymo robotaxi fleet, are streaming into a dead-end section of the Richmond District. While some perform a complicated multi-point turn, others get trapped behind one another in a queue. KPIX 5 reported on Wednesday that on some days “up to 50” of the tech-heavy driverless cars can show up, disrupting riders’ routes and disturbing residents. “It’s literally every five minutes,” Jennifer King, a local homeowner, said. “And we’re all working from home, so this is what we hear.” Waymo has not yet provided an explanation for any technological malfunctions behind the invasion. According to CNN, Waymo cars also regularly get confused by puddles and left turns.

That was funny! It’s refreshing these days to see stories that make you laugh out loud.

It’s stories like this that convince me we are still many years from self-driving big rigs. Hopefully.

We were following a pickup truck the other day. The driver put his left turn signal on at two intersections and turned right both times!
I think he’d had a few too many. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

They didn’t notice they were missing?

It does seem curious. If my own car just wandered off like that I would certainly wonder where it was.

I’m not sure why they didn’t vaccinate them, it’d have been easier to find them.

  • Remus said that Biden “further instructs “ Ferriero to hand over the documents to the select committee 30 days after notifying Trump, “absent any intervening court order.”

Correction: Intervening court orders, plural. Which I’m sure will run their course and be finally adjudicated in the spring of 2025.

Literally thousands of other ways to portray your displeasure at vaccine mandates, and that’s what she chose.

And she misspells “anti-semetic”

Then she claims you’d be crazy to think it was anything nefarious.

Then she wipes it off her twitter profile.

Next she’ll be claiming it never happened…

Then she’ll be calling us the “anti-semetes.”

Anyway, why is a Georgia senate candidate fundraising in Texas??? Can’t raise any money in Georgia?

That he is, but swastika or no swastika, Hershel Walker’s real problem is Hershel Walker. His mental health issues are alarmingly serious. Even kinda scary. WTF kinda scary. .

Maybe they quit because they didn’t want to be.

Some of the right’s proclivities are more obvious than those in others.

So, that makes him fairly indistinguishable from most GOPers in the House and Senate.
