I am beyond pleased that my expectation of a circular firing squad did not happen (I’ve been watching Democrats shoot themselves in the foot for so long, it’s my default expectation). Still fully expect the MSM to turn on her once this short honeymoon is over. Not looking forward to them normalizing the racist and misogynistic arguments. Totally looking forward to people boycotting their asses.

My feelings on Sunday were ones of sadness, dread, and uncertainty. Today I feel hopeful. I agree we are not out of the woods yet, but I am much more fired up today than I was a week ago. Let’s do this.

Yes. But i think there is potential that like “Joe is old” took root and overcame everything, MSM may relent and let the honeymoon last and cash in on Obama 2.0, them underbus her after the end of her first 100 days

It’s just too bad that the “Trump is old!” “Trump is demented” and “Trump is unhealthy!” memes are all forbidden by “Journalistic Ethics” … or something.
Now, we’ll probably get some kind of crypto-racist attacks, like the infotainment media pressed on Obama: “She’s not really black”. We’ve already got the birtherism: “Her parents weren’t American citizens!!!”
Not looking forward to the crypto-misogyny, either: “She looks kind of, ya know, mannish, doncha think?” and the ever popular “Shrill! B+chy! Pushy!” and all those other qualities prized in men but forbidden in the “gentler sex.”
It will be a LOOONG summer, and in the fall, the campaign will finally start to register on Real Americans.

Eric Schneiderman, then attorney general of NYS, solicited the contribution. My understanding is that Trump wanted to please Schneiderman for NYS reasons.

If not Pete, I expect that Senator Mark Kelly may get the nod. He has military cred, Senator in McCain’s old seat (with a Democratic Governor to replace him), wife is Gabby Gifford (gun safety), and a freaking astronaut (NASA avoids skeletons + coolness factor).

If prominent Democrats would start hammering those messages every day for the next several weeks, the news media would start reporting it just like they did with all the Republican attacks on Biden’s age and mental competency a year ago. The news media isn’t going to run the Democrats’ campaign for them. If Dems want negative stories about Trump’s age and mental fitness, they’re going to have to be the assholes who keep saying those things loudly. Republicans had no qualms about coming off as assholes and browbeating journalists.

I like Mark Kelly a lot. I don’t want to lose him from the Senate. But at lease AZ has a Democratic Governor so we don’t have to worry about those shenanigans.
It’s too bad that Scott Kelly is living in Colorado.
