We’ve seen this before. It will involve:waiting until the last second to put out plans with little specificity but they will include:
- Doubling down on tax credits and HSAs
- Permitting insurance companies to offer policies with stripped down coverage and benefit caps
- Creating special pools for people with preexisting conditions where they can buy expensive policies (see #2) with their tax credits.
The GOP conflates health “care” with health “insurance”, and their primary goals are to appease the insurance companies and to prevent the unworthy from getting anything for free. Getting care to people who need it isn’t even on the radar.

When did DeSantis join the Medicare-for-all brigade, because lower prices and protecting people with preexisting conditions are incompatible without a national plan that requires universal participation. Just ask the insurance companies.

A record 16.3 million people flocked to the Affordable Care Act exchanges for 2023 coverage, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said Wednesday.
Open enrollment on the federal exchange and most state marketplaces ran from November 1 to January 15. But those who lose health insurance coverage, have a qualifying life change or have very low incomes can obtain policies throughout the year through special enrollment periods.
Sign-ups on the federal exchange, healthcare.gov, have skyrocketed nearly 50% since the Biden administration took office in 2021, thanks in large part to enhanced federal premium subsidies and increased outreach efforts. Plan selections are up 13% from this time last year.
