The ACA was an imperfect solution since people still postpone medical care and families still have quite a bit of medical debt, but the number of personal bankruptcies dropped by half after it went into effect.
The ACA was intended to be a first step on the road to universal care. The idea that one party would stymie any improvements for more than 13 years didn’t really register with people at the time. After all, Medicare has had numerous upgrades over the years.
ETA It is of a piece with all those folks that argue that NIH and CDC lied about COVID because they weren’t able to figure every detail out in the first 3 months - you make changes as you get new information.
Will she ask about the prevalence of Black Santa’s during this holiday season? “Is it the fault of the prevalence of DEI programs?”
The ACA was the three-legged stool conservative option. There’s no other viable conservative alternative.
ETA I’m gonna watch a movie with nude artist’s models in it. I may check in from time to time. But If Ramasworthy constricts Nikki and then detaches his mandibular hinges and begins to engulf her. I may pay more attention.
The Kochs have always been trying and failing to get rid of Social Security. They’re batting zero. If people think the stock market is the answer, there are plenty of boxes to move into under the bridge if you have no other place to go when you’re no longer a contributing member of society.
La Belle Noiseuse? Or is it the artist who is nude?
Thursday afternoon (post debate) scenario:
Best Buy salesperson: “What are you looking for in a TV?”
Self: (looks at bandaged hand)
Poor woman has to suffer through the debates, glad she can still snark despite the incoming brain damage (from the concentrated derp)
Preventing pre-existing exclusions has been huge, though. I had to move to actually move to a different state when I was still in grad school because as a recent cancer survivor I couldn’t get any policy to cover me when I lost my insurance, and the premiums for the state’s “last resort” policy was several times my salary. Luckily my treating institution was part of the UT system, so as a resident I could see them as an “indigent”. Last thing I wanted to do was bankrupt my family if I relapsed.
Okay, I watched Haley’s pre-debate video and two things struck me. First, they should always do long shots of candidate’s “rallies” where there are like a dozen folk behind them sitting in folding chairs making “crowd” noises while the candidate shouts at a bunch of studio engineers.
Second, a candidate seriously bragging about a poll that shows her 25 points behind the winner made me laugh.
Single-payer financing of health care would free up $500 billion for needed care.
The $250k Haley’s PAC pocketed from major Democratic donor and LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman will almost certainly be
raiseddiscussed tonight…
FIFY! ![]()
The $250k was actually “raised” prior to the debate.
No. Just like you, it doesn’t matter. I guess that makes it the perfect venue for you.
The only hope Nicki has of becoming president is for TDIFFG to stroke out and take all his white nationalist mouth breathers with him. I don’t see her being able to handle the MAGAt base and without them, it’s Democratic Presidents as far as the eye can see.
Did anyone else notice the sniper in the tree?
Two? If, as you suspect, this is Florida, then we’re talking about a prom threesome (not counting the sniper in the tree).
I understand what you’re saying.
I never wondered whatever happened to Megyn Kelly.
After President Obama broke his campaign promise to have a public option instead of a for-profit insurance mandate, all that was left was the Republican plan formerly known as “Romneycare” in Massachusetts.
FIFY.
If you want to blame anyone, blame the folks who blocked his attempts to deliver. Obama didn’t get a vote in Congress to implement his proposed policies…
