When I was still working and had a lot to do with the business side of the company I saw that Uline was where the office bought a lot of stuff. The ladies there were enamoured by what I later found out was a mythology; that they started in a basement like your average American. They identified with the idea. One of them started a part time business in her basement. She was never the same; constantly pushing her nutty new age. It didn’t go anywhere. She’s still in that office.
ULINE was founded in 1980

started in a “basement” ???
… ah … one bigggggg ass basement with 18’ ceilings and loading docks and inventory racks and fork lifts … and above the “basement” was a call center and logistics center … and … on and on …
Elizabeth Uihlein regularly posts “opinion pieces” on their business website.
My boss saw that and said “WHY would you do that? How does it help your business? You’re driving away customers and probably not gaining any new ones.”
