Federal investigators have recommended temporarily reinstating a demoted biomedical researcher to his former job, pending further investigation of his claim that he was retaliated against for being a whistleblower.
Like I know anything, but I’d thought from the get-go that Bright’s being public about his complaint bought him a measure of protection on down the road. Maybe this is an initial sign of that protection.

When has this Administration worried about “legal” with a Senate who says never mind.
“Health Secretary Alex Azar — one of the officials Bright faulted in his complaint for not taking COVID-19 seriously enough in the early weeks of its spread — can opt not to follow OSC’s recommendation.”
The White House released a statement in response, saying “Comrade Azar is a loyal Party member who was only following orders when he purged HHS of politically-degenerate ideas like saving millions of Americans from needless suffering and death.”
I’m sure this “recommendation” will be taken “under advisement” toot sweet.
Bright also alleged that HHS leadership, including Bright’s superior Robert Kadlec, had pressured him to award contracts based on political favoritism.
Need any more be said? Bright crossed Trump having the temerity to suggest shady deals involving Trump’s cronies that could result in significant damage to public health.

These are obviously the same investigators who screwed up the FBI’s investigation into Flynn… so there is no need to listen to them… in the end they will be shown to be corrupt like the rest of the FBI
This administration will now see him as an enemy to destroy…anyone that speaks up, especially to make clear the malfeasance in the administration, is subjected to the worst that the right wing can bring. He’s probably already receiving death threats, and it won’t be long before Trump starts attacking him. I hope he as good security, he’s going to need it…some of the things he said in his complaint were damming for the administration’s handling of the pandemic, and, in any reasonable administration, would lead to DoJ prosecution. Hopefully he’s still around in 2021 to help the next AG take down people.
Once Biden is in with a democratic congress, a counting of all the dead and permanently disable people should be done. This number will be astounding, and should be used to modify the punishment for the corrupt cronyism such that the person making this deal forfeit 1/3 of all his assets to the government, and 1/3 of the assets of the company benefiting from the deal. This might help pay for the loses our country will have suffered.

Some call it the Deep State, others the Bureaucracy, I think of it as the System, it is self healing. We have numerous heroes who have stepped forward and have been punished for it. There will be a reckoning. Some heroes will get shafted, some villains will get away scot free.
But the System will endure.
I suppose it is just possible that THIS scandal might be the one to break Chump’s back and scrape off a bunch of supporters. When we are dying by 1000s a day and Chump is shown to be turning the entire pandemic response into his Grift Game. It doesn’t get any more Emoluenty than that.
Trump will just have to suspend the operations of the Merit Systems Protection Board.
Yet the FBI managed to find a group of agents who did a bang up job investigating the allegations against Kavanaugh. Go figure.
This sucks.
The Times noted that in that case, the decision on Bright’s future would be sent to the Merit Systems Protection Board.
The board population is looking a little thin.
