Gottheimer Won’t Commit To Backing BBB If CBO Score Doesn’t Match With WH Analysis

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), co-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus (moderates), on Sunday maintained that he still wants to see an official cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office before committing to support the Build Back Better package, days after the House passed the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

Funny, the R’s always vote 100% on tax cuts for rich people.

Joe Manchin I can understand. This guy? Movement on SALT would be a big win for him. What the heck is he doing?

Gottheimer and a few other Democrats won’t “commit”, but perhaps they’ll vote for the BBB in the end? Hope does not spring eternal.

I cannot believe this is what my party, that I contributed thousands to in 2020, has become. They could just eliminate sugar and ethanol subsidies, and they would be able to lower the Medicare age.

But THIS is the hill they decide to die on? That everything, meaning everything that helps individual Americans, has to be paid for? What about eliminating the EIC for people making $500k a year, so Jeff Bezos can’t take it?

Increasing the SALT deduction would be a winner in his district. What’s he going to run on if BBB fails?

But it’s a fake hill. BIF added to the deficit and none of them cared.

Mppdy’s has said the BBB will SAVE mo ney. They also rated the one he just voted for as adding $400 billion to our debt…so he’s a hypocrite who’s jealous of Manchin and Sinema. His vote is likely not needed I should think.

Just like the Justice Dems warned. Manchinema was just the stalking horse, and there are plenty of other sold-out corrupt corporate Dems keeping to the shadows until they are needed, ensuring the BBB will never be passed. Especially now that the BIF has been.

The billionaire class wins yet again, and meanwhile the world is literally tearing itself apart.

Let’s not spoil the weekend with this one.

Maybe I’m missing something, but this seems like a headline trying to make a story. I don’t hear anything different here than what I read Friday evening. He even says the BBB plan is important.

Just because he didn’t jump up and down like Tom Cruise on Oprah screaming, “I love this bill! Must! Vote! Now!” doesn’t mean he won’t support it in the end.

My nervousness will come next time Manchin throws an impromptu clarification press conference. I’ll put this supposed controversy on the far back burner for now.

He’s trying to play both ends against the middle, while running down the clock.

He’s a slimy little shitguppie.

This is just my strictly amateur perspective, but it seems to me there is the very real possibility of (so-called) moderates representing districts where it would be useful and important - even imperative - to go before their voters and be able to say something like, “I insisted that this bill be costed. I held it up for a CBO assessment before I voted for it. Only then did I cast my vote. So, no, this is not careless spending of the public purse, as my opponent would have you believe. This was not rushed, every detail was thrashed out and pounded into a shape we could all live with. Except the Republicans. And everybody knows it. The Build Back Better bill is a fiscally responsible bill. No amount of Republican hoo hah can change that.”

Were that to be the thinking behind Gottheimer’s apparent obstinance, I would be ok with that.

Don’t you know? According to the MSM, Biden only got elected to cure COVID and not be Trump. Not to pass legislation.

I thought the general idea was to spend money.

I am for rebranding BBB with something that has to do with children and families. Maybe the 2021 Children and Families Bill/Act. What it does is support families both with and without children. I dunno, just a thought. Who is against caring for children and the elderly? Name them and shame them.
