Look, I realize Republicans are performing for that part of their base that won’t be in prison for when the next election rolls around, but this has to be painful for them. I mean, if I’ve lost, I prefer to make it quick and get the heck out of Dodge, not drag it out for all to see that I’m not just a big loser, but a very sore one at that.

Yup. Chuck Grassley still pisses me off when I think of him laughing and having a beverage just off the floor of the US Senate during the impeachment. How freaking arrogant. They have betrayed their oath. And if they are breaking the law with coordination with other senators that is a conspiracy. If these GOP senators don’t know right from wrong they are unqualified for job and should at least be sanctioned like Rep. Steve King was. The *Antidemocracy Dozen" (pricks this mangy deserve a nickname. ) could hopefully be sanctioned under Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY.)

I have been wondering about that too. I believe it is up to the Veep to overrule objections–if they so choose-- based on safe harbor and no competing slate of electors. Pence would not have the balls to overrule.
Would love to hear from someone more knowledgeable.
I would think they all know the what the end result will be and don’t wanna be there until midnight.
