Gosar Files First Electoral College Objection, Targeting Arizona’s Votes | Talking Points Memo

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) filed an objection to the Arizona election results, kicking off what will be a symbolic temper tantrum that President Trump’s allies are throwing during Congress’ counting of Electoral College votes.

Bizarre broken clock moment for mcconnel…watching it is surreal…

He clearly sees this as potentially setting a precede t that would obliterate the GOP in years to come as demographic shifts continue.

Yawn.

Mitch kinda sounds like he is about to cry. A better person might actually feel kinda sorry for him…

Has McConnell been taking acting classes? He’s playing a rational statesman right now.

signed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Remember that name, Republicans.

Ted Cruz… bringing Cuban politics to America.

Gosar is a notably despicable piece of crap.

…and now he’s decrying the bitter partisanship that exists…in large part because of his actions. His two-facedness is breathtaking.

Is McConnell about to cry? His voice sounds so wavering… Really weird.

Heard some of Scalise’s screech. He is a nauseating pig. That is all.

I understand none of this nonsense will go past midnight. If the GOP wants to spend their time on a useless effort to please what comes down to a significant minority of American voters, let them.

As someone else has said, it will just lead to the GOP being out of power for the foreseeable future. Think of this as the last gasp of a losing proposition.

This has the potential to be Groundhog Day for Moscow Mitch. He’s going to give the same speech over and over and over. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving tortoise.

I’ve got the Senate chamber up on C-SPAN right now, and 30 minutes after the objection they are still not in session.

BTW, I believe the debate is limited to a maximum of 2 hours, not a minimum. It’s not clear when the clock starts on that, though.

Debate what? There is nothing real to debate and the end of all this is Biden is POTUS. If I were a Democrat I’d sit back and say nothing or go get lunch. Come back and when the do it again go get dinner or a drink. As Granny used to say “don’t dignify it with a response”…

So, how long will it take before they all give up on what’s clearly a lost cause? I’ll assume that, by mid-afternoon, even the craziest among them will be getting bored with all of this but, as always, we’ll see.

Gosar was on that balllot, correct? So, he is objecting to his being on the floor to object?

The irony and hypocrisy are thick right now.

The ex majority leader, the little dictator, stands there nakedly lying and bullshitting everyone. May the serpent McC burn in hell.

Depends how many challenges. 2 hrs debate for each one.

I think the Dems should play along, and challenge every State that the republicans don’t.

Each objection should be met with loud, raucous laughter, finger pointing, tears streaming…ridicule these idiots and overwhelm the seditious applause!
