GOPer Sends Fake Appointment Confirmations For ‘Your Child’s Gender Reassignment Surgery’ In Fundraising Texts

I’m right there with you on that little ice floe.

It seems odd that someone who has had species reassignment surgery would be so alarmist about gender reassignment.

What amazes me isn’t that this guy is trying to fundraise off gender identity it is the apparent belief that a lot of MAGA people think this is an important issue.

By the way, what ever happened to freedom from government intrusion. These conservatives seem down with denying personal freedom in every possible way except for gun ownership, masking requirements in a pandemic and motor cycle helmets.

Today’s GOP has never really been about small government as a principle. That’s just part of their schtick. They are for small where they want it and big where they want it.

Yep - they are going to tell you what you can read, say, do, think. hahahahahahahahaha Overreach yet? I think they are right on the verge if they haven’t yet.

Well, TBF, it’s an interesting substitute for actual policies. I mean, it serves as an effective distraction from the lack of any actual polices.

The system won’t let me upload the JPEG attached to the above tweet… you’ll need to click through.

The text says: How would you describe Libertarians?
A: House cats. They are convinced of their fierce independence while they are utterly dependent upon a system they neither appreciate or understand.

How in the f*uck do these people even think of these horrible stunts? Did they actually think this was a great idea?

That’s where I’m at too. I was never under the impression that the assholes among us would somehow start giving a crap about anyone other than themselves. But I guess I thought the one thing we could always rely on was the innate survival instinct of a living being to want to protect itself against illness and death. But covid showed we don’t even have that. So where do we go from there, as a species? Downhill, it seems.

“Using scare tactics about our children’s well-being to raise money for a political campaign should be off-limits,” she told the Michigan Advance. “This is what people hate about politics: the politicians that only want to use fear to further divide us in a time where we should be coming together.”

Clearly Tom Barrett (R-epulsive) and the entire MAGA base have lost their fucking minds. Also, Democrats generally are very bad at responding. The above response comes from a good place I think - when they go low, we go high, etc. But it’s not up to the moment, IMO. I don’t think it’s effective at all to respond to shit-posting liars with pearl-clutching about “our children’s well-being” (as important as children’s well-being is). How about this:

“Again Tom Barrett and the GOP use lies and illegal* phishing tactics to their supporters to grift as much money as possible from them, while supporting policies which hit you in the pocketbook, restrict your freedom, and make a mockery of the Constitution and the American Dream. The people of Michigan deserve better than Mr. Barret’s fraud and lies.”

*Yeah, say “illegal”. Are the texts actually illegal? Probably not but who the fuck cares. If Barrett’s campaign wants to get into a slapfight over the word “illegal” GREAT! Now the news cycle is about whether or not Barrett broke the law.

Finally, “the trans issue” is an interesting way to refer to fellow human beings.

Don’t forget about controlling, i.e., restricting or obliterating, women’s reproductive choices as well as our medical treatment.

All the alleged libertarians who don’t support choice. Am I missing something here?

The bio on the douche bag.

Early life and education[edit]

Barrett was born in Southfield, Michigan. he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.[4]

Career[edit]

After graduating from high school, Barrett joined the Army, where he served for 21 years. He served abroad in South Korea, Guantanamo Bay, Kuwait, and Iraq, and is a veteran of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served in the Michigan Army National Guard, holding the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2, until retiring in 2021.[5][4]
Barrett was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2014, narrowly beating Democratic incumbent Theresa Abed.[6] Barrett won re-election in 2016, defeating Theresa Abed in a rematch. Barrett garnered 54% of the vote to Abed’s 43% and Libertarian Marc Lord’s 3%.[7]

Damn libertarians!

You know, when the fire gets too hot, this asshole might just claim he was “joking”. Given what the repugs consider humor, it would be a plausible defense.
