GOP Senators Defend Filibuster By Accusing Dems Of Pulling ‘Race Card’ | Talking Points Memo

Republicans truly believe that whites are inferior and can’t win without cheating.

Maybe, just maybe, if the Republicans had actually governed and not stopped things such as the nomination of Merrick Garland, they’d have a bit of a leg to stand on here. It’s clear to them when they look in the mirror what they really are about. What they are saying now is what their dark money “advisors” tell them to say. Parrots, all.

I think Psaki and Biden both should be asking: what problem are they trying to fix in Georgia, when their sec. of state and Trump’s head of elections both claimed the last election was secure and fair?

Why do white Republicans constantly play the “play the race card” card?

Why? Because 2020-21 gave her a sad. Republicans lost.

Alice O’Lenick, who is the Gwinnett Board of Registrations and Elections chairwoman for 2021 and 2022, encouraged members of her party to write letters and make phone calls to state legislators to encourage them to make changes to state elections laws.

“I was on a Zoom call the other day and I said, ‘I’m like a dog with a bone. I will not let them end this session without changing some of these laws,’ “ O’Lenick said. “They don’t have to change all of them, but they’ve got to change the major parts of them so that we at least have a shot at winning.”

Two even bigger changes would center around absentee voting in Georgia, however.

One would be a partial rollback of no excuse absentee-by-mail voting. Georgia has had no excuse absentee voting for more than a decade and its popularity exploded in 2020 as officials at the Georgia Secretary of State’s office pushed it as a safe alternative for voters who were concerned about waiting in line to vote amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

O’Lenick suggested only certain population groups should be allowed to ask for an absentee ballot without giving a reason for the request.

So I went back to see the date when the Japanese ship the Ever Given, being operated by the Taiwanese company Evergreen Marine, got stuck, it was on Tuesday the 03/23. I heard a report yesterday that the last time a ship got stuck it took 6 days to unload containers to free the ship. Well with all the monkeying around with excavators and tug boats they could have unloaded enough cargo crates to lighten the ship, which is now the plan that they want to do now. :man_facepalming:
Something about not learning from the past comes to mind.

Did anyone ask Toomey or Lindsay how they feel about going back to the old filibuster? Of course they don’t want to … but they shouldn’t have any problem with it, right? It’s the sanctity of the Senate, ya know. So what’s the issue here? “Reforming” it was phoning in from the golf course.

I tell ya, you support one little insurrection by white supremacists, introduce hundreds of bill suppressing people’s right to vote, and suddenly everyone is calling you a racist.

Defending democracy is not a game to Democrats. We aren’t playing around and neither are Republicans. They seriously want to end it.

Contrary to all their arguments and dumb retorts, they are passing voter suppression bills which clearly define them as autocrats. Republicans need to stop pussyfooting around and just come out and proudly admit their fascist intent.

Every time Republicans do something racist, they accuse Democrats of pulling the “race card” as a diversionary tactic. But it’s still racist.

No, they think others are cheating to try to get what Whites have by birthright.

PERFECT image.

“Every time a Republican does anything, we’re racist,” Graham said on “Fox News Sunday.” “They use the racism card to advance a liberal agenda, and we’re tired of it.”

I agree that’s a good reply. They’ve answered that already though: they keep saying public distrust is a problem. It is, and it’s a problem THEY created. It’s also a problem only for people who vote for them (mostly whites). So yes, reply with your question and with an observation about how the GOP has been nurturing this lack of public trust in elections, so why did they do that?

I predict that the GOP will soon split into two parties, the Angry White People’s Pity Party and the Angrier White People’s Pity Party.

Both of them will nominate Trumpp for president in 2024.
