GOP Senators Defend Filibuster By Accusing Dems Of Pulling ‘Race Card’ | Talking Points Memo

Ya gotta play the race card when racists are trying to stack the deck.

Toomey argued that Democratic lawmakers are making a “shameful attempt” to “really ruin” what he believes to be “what remains of the functioning” of the upper chamber.

After Mitch McConnell’s time as majority leader, there’s not much that remains of what the function of the Senate was supposed to be. Preserving the filibuster without major reforms will only guarantee the Senate’s continued dysfunction with McConnell as minority leader.

Every time a non-white vote is suppressed, a Republican gets a hood and robe.

Republicans keep doing their paint-by-numbers politics. Not much imagination here.

When the GOP does racism, and people call them racist, then they play the victim. When the Democrats want to reform some corruption in the system, the GOP defends the corruption by calling Democrats corrupt. In this painting, they painted with these two numbers they used before.

Graham is becoming so ridiculous that he might as well put on floppy shoes, red nose and honk a bike horn when asked for comment on interviews.

Fox News: Lindsay, when you say they pull the race card, what do you mean by that?

Lindsay: Honk, Honk, Honkity Honk, Honk Honk.

Fox News: And there you have it folks, a complete indictment with evidence of the dastardly workings of the Democrats. Thank you Senator Graham.

Lindsay: Honk Honk

Graham, who also appeared on “Fox News Sunday,” accused Biden of playing the “race card” when the President decried the Georgia’s new overhaul of its election rules in a blistering statement last week.

Graham was playing the race card when he pressured the Georgia Secretary of State to throw out all the mail-in ballots from Fulton County because too many Black people were voting for Biden. And he’s under investigation for potential criminal prosecution by the Fulton County DA for playing that card. It turned out to be the Joker.

Don’t you people see? It’s the Dems that are racist – against Whites. That’s what everyone is so upset about. That’s why the Bundy’s occupied the Malheur Wildlife Refuge. That’s why the militias plotted to kidnap the Michigan Governor. That’s why the Patriots stormed the Capitol. They (the Blacks, the Browns, the Jews, the Muslims, the Gays, the Transgenders, the Communists, the Liberals, etc.) are trying to take away the rights of Whites that they have enjoyed since the Declaration of Independence. You Globalist elitists will never get it.

It seems so obvious when you put it that way.

GOP: “Black votes are fraudulent by definition, so we are passing state laws to stop Black people from voting.”

Dems: “That’s racist.”

GOP: “There you go pulling the darned race card again!”

Well said. Republicans keep using the same outrage they have overused for years. The country has moved on. They look sad and pathetic because they are.

the racism card

Hey, dude.

It’s your state that left the union because you wanted a government that would arbitarily define some people as being property, not human.

Here’s your card back.

Chuck Todd to Toomey:

I’m just curious, though, do you think it’s a good look for the party that after a presidential loss, after the former candidate basically creates a false narrative and lies about why it happened, that these laws – that these laws are getting changed under a false pretense? That’s not a good look for the Republican party, is it not?

The only thing Todd left out was the Republican party losing two Georgia Senate seats two months later and almost immediately started working on changing their voting laws. There were no problems so nothing to fix. Audits were done repeatedly and the paper trail of the machines matched results.

“GOP Senators Defend Filibuster By Accusing Dems Of Pulling ‘Race Card’”

Republicans projecting again. They played the ‘race card’ by passing laws that have clear racial implications for voting: they suppress minority, especially, black voters.

Democrats are merely calling it what it is: racist voter suppression

I hate to admit it, but I think this is actually a very skillful move. It tells the base that S1 = race.

Quite ironic how they want to abuse the filibuster to enable the Senate Minority to prevent racial minorities from voting. Block the vote in order to prevent the vote. Protecting the vote means they lose power. They really do see the Democratic Party as one big racial minority. Therefore, they want to abuse Senate rules to prevent Majority Rule. It’s all they’ve got.

The Dems want Blacks to vote! That’s racist! If they weren’t looking at race the Dems wouldn’t even know that it’s easier for white folks to vote in the South./s
