Tom Cotton attacks yet another person of color while whining that implicit bias doesn’t exist. You really can’t make this shit up.

"…I think these statements were beyond the pale. I don’t think really anybody truly believes them, nor should they be believed, because they’re so preposterous.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK)

Not to quibble, but I don’t think even conservative Alaskans would be okay to claim him.

Isn’t Southern White Male Republican Senator the very poster boy for implicit biases?

Yet they’re always the ones “shocked”.

Ironic how pollyannaish this most hypocritical and cynical of attacks actually is. “How could you possibly accuse the “decent [white] people” of harboring implicit bias, as do all human beings as I know myself perfectly well having gone through a couple Ivies myself where this concept is universally accepted, oh, how could you think such reprehensible thoughts, I pity you when not regarding you with pious horror” and so forth. Asshole.

With Cottommouth, those biases are explicit.

Everyone, American or otherwise, has implicit bias, it is part of the human condition.

The only question is does the human condition include Tom Cotton.

Not so you’d notice.

Arkansas is the Mississippi of West Virginias.

(They’re not sending their best. Or maybe they are.)

I’ve developed this bias against fuckers like Tom Cotton. I’m aware of it, and it’s something I have to deal with.

Cotton’s biases aren’t implicit. The are explicit and available for everyone to see.

I am so fucking sick of disingenuous GOP bullshit getting treated as anything but. Cotton wasn’t “horrified” he was fucking playing a game. Tom Cotton the man who said slavery was ’necessary evil’ isn’t against racism, he’s fucking acting. Cotton knows exactly which Americans harbor implicit bias, it’s his fucking voters!

Can our media just stop treating these people as sincere when they are clearly not for gawds sake!

Tom Cotton’s demeanor of superiority makes me want to vomit.

Yes, we all hold biases and not all of them are racial. When juries are selected that is assumed; what is asked is that we put them aside and judge fairly.

Having spent a little time in Arkansas, I can assure you they are not sending their best. Maybe the median however.
