A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Yeah so Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita’s (R) and other conservatives’ spin on the story of an obstetrician-gynecologist providing an abortion for a 10-year-old rape victim just fell apart. Dramatically.
TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – A Texas mother filed a civil lawsuit in Travis County against Academy Sports + Outdoors for selling a gun to her daughter July 2 in Austin. The gun was subsequently used by the daughter in her suicide.
Court documents said the daughter struggled with bipolar andgeneral anxiety disorder.
“Academy never should have sold her the firearm and ammunition, given the condition in which she presented that Friday night, intending to purchase a firearm even after the store had closed,” the lawsuit said.
Not imploded - that suggests there was ever a good faith intent. Actually, the attack continues in exactly the way it was intended. Set in motion a line of attack, harassment, and abuse that will be picked up and continued by the lunatic pro-forced-birth crowd, and put the life of this doctor in danger - mission accomplished.
The report, “LOST NOT STOLEN: The Conservative Case that Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Presidential Election,” was put together by three former federal judges and eight conservative leaders who investigated Trump’s claims.
Over the course of a year, the group looked at all 64 cases of the Trump campaign’s fraudulent claims in six key states and concluded that there were no substantial instances of fraud that would have changed the election results. The report goes state by state and claim by claim, taking time to investigate each legal case.
I wish I had something to say about the Morning Memo, but it looks like Same Stuff, Different Day: Republicans Make Shit Up, everyone else has to try to clean up the mess. s Maybe TFG’s White House was a metaphor for life in These Untied States. /s
Best 400 bucks they’ll ever spend, that’s for sure. I’m guessing the Fetterman people have information in their hands saying this is a helpful line of attack, because they’ve been cleverly brutalizing him with it. Fetterman’s not absurdly young, actually, but he’s certainly of the generation that understands how to use social media.
Plus I can’t imagine that the 10-year-old victim enjoys hearing about this story every time it comes up in the media. Though kids may not watch the news all the time like adults, it’s impossible in our media-soaked world to avoid it entirely.
