GOP Reps Objected To Nikole Hannah-Jones’ Hiring In Letter To UNC Chancellor | Talking Points Memo

The louder The Emperor denies his own nakedness, the more it becomes obvious to anyone with common eyes.

“In a time when we should bring people together” seems another ultimate hypocrisy. considering how corruptly, even institutionally divisive they are with their voting rights policies.

The hypocrisy factor has become a parody, they really do think they can just pretend some sort of shared virtue to each other, even as their real victims, The People with whom they share nothing but contempt, see it all clearly.

You can’t hide abuse from its victims.

The world just gets smaller every day for Trump Republicans, especially the ones who were Trump Republicans long before Trump ever gave them a fat figurehead to claim as their Political Jesus.

Man attacks woman and others. Woman calls man out. Man calls woman unstable, vindictive and divisive, and of course THOSE words. Man is self-implicated, woman is vindicated. Thanks, GOP!

It’s classic gaslighting projection, misdirection and mind-fuckery. Get condemned for doing something horrible, call condemner unstable and divisive. Often backfires, as it should. Bullies ALWAYS do this when called out.

Yeah, don’t punch me and then accuse me of being divisive if I hit back, MFer. I WILL hit back and you WILL endure it.

Heh:

John 16:19

Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me’?

Time for some truth resurrection.

I’m old enough to remember when Repubs expressed ‘support’ for examining diverse views on campuses

Allow me to introduce you to the Republican Party…

I understand Jesse wore it better.

Virginia Foxx looks like a character that W.C. Fields would insult in a 1930s comedy.

Oh, I don’t know that it’s uglier than any other nation, but it’s certainly no prettier. It pretty much sucked for most folks in the Divine Right of Kings era of western history. About the only way it didn’t suck was if you belonged to the aristocracy. Feudal systems basically sucked, and being on top wasn’t all that great, because you had to worry about the aristos over you or the peasants under you. If you were the king you had to worry about the aristos and your sons…Nature, red in tooth and claw.

The UNC system has suffered many downgrades ever since Gov Pat McCrory stacked the BOG with rightwing idiots. UNC used to be one of the very best State Universities in the country. Like everything the rightwing touches, it has been degraded to a pathetic shadow of what it once was…

Small point: you misspelled any as all…

She was smart to turn down UNC and go to Howard.

Virginia Foxx used to be a teacher. Does that not give you pause? She is and always has been a mean, bigoted, racist tea bagger. One has to wonder how many young people she has propagandized with her hateful rightwing ideology.

From the Article…
“Two congressional Republicans objected to the hiring of a New York Times reporter to a university professorship because of her work on the Times’ “1619 Project,” newly public documents reveal.”
… … …
GOPers say “How dare someone have a different point of view from us!!”
I spent 40+ years teaching and doing research at my university and I knew lots of profs with wildly divergent points of view. I see nothing wrong with that. Universities are about the marketplace of ideas and exploration of them I had thought. I guess not in N. Carolina according to these two Goobers and that’s sad.

Not even Jesse was as mean and ugly as Va. Foxx. She is a viper.

Unfortunately, you are absolutely correct. And this leads to a decline of graduate programs as well as top faculty leave or choose not to apply to openings. And it takes many years before its new reputation can be reversed. University of Wisconsin at Madison went through something similar with Scott Walker who significantly damaged its reputation for purely political reasons.

Isn’t there some kind of law about federal officials using the power of their office to interfere with hiring decisions? Or is that just executive branch?

Didn’t work so well for Ayn, did it? She died sucking on the Government tit.
Her followers cannot discern the difference between fiction…which is what she wrote…and reality…where the rest of us live. Her essays were just as much fiction and wishful rightwing thinking as her novels were.
