Misreading is one way to describe it. The other is just ignoring the long obvious fact that right wing christian theocratic types, like those in the current SCOTUS majority, aren’t even a little bit loyal to the Republican party. They are doing “god’s work” in their tiny minds, and that, if you will, ‘trumps’ everything.The theocratic fascists (assisted by the Federalist Society of religious idiots) were/are using the R party, not the other way around. And we all pay the price.

From looking at the transit data neighborhoods where there are more blue collar, pink collar and health care workers are back to just about pre pandemic levels of ridership. There is the perception that they are less safe but the crime numbers don’t quite bear that out. The problem tends to be in midtown Manhattan and Wall Street where some white collar workers might be more fearful of coming back to the office due to a few high profile incidents and just have the types of positions that can be performed at home.

Yes, the Patagonia brand is worn by many insufferable yuppies, but Yvon is the real deal.
He was one of four men who made the first ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite – 3000’ of vertical rock. In order to support his odd hobby, and for his own use, he began making pitons and selling them out of the back of his van. His pitons were vastly superior to any of the others at the time and began selling so quickly that he had to create a company to manage it. Over the years, he personally led changes to rock climbing to make it less harmful to the rock and single handedly created the sport of ice climbing.
Patagonia has always been in the van of employee and environmental relations, and now he has:
donated 2% of all stock and all decision-making authority to a trust, which will oversee the company’s mission and values. The other 98% of the company’s stock will go to a nonprofit called the Holdfast Collective, which “will use every dollar received to fight the environmental crisis, protect nature and biodiversity, and support thriving communities, as quickly as possible,”
The manner of this donation was as a gift, and he will pay over $15 million in gift taxes.

In the new boys’ pen that was built for Gus last year (along with a neutered male companion), there was a tree that was left in the paddock because of its positioning. The trunk was covered in poison ivy. Until the boy goats could no longer reach it, the entire trunk was denuded of the ivy and they complained bitterly that they couldn’t get to the tasty nuggets out of their reach.

Abbott wants to be the GOP nominee for president in 2024, and he has a very clear-eyed and rational assessment of what he needs to do to accomplish that goal.
Abbott is hyper-aware of his electoral viability. Trust me on this.

According to the book, Trump initially didn’t want to lower the flags for McCain, which enraged Kelly to the point where he made a crude threat against him.
“If you don’t support John McCain’s funeral, when you die, the public will come to your grave and piss on it,” he bluntly told Trump, who subsequently gave in.
