The GOP is reportedly eyeing Jacksonville, Florida as a host for the 2020 Republican National Convention on August 24-27 after President Donald Trump withdrew the event from Charlotte, North Carolina last week.
I know a lot of people over there, and their local DEC has been aggressively working on registering voters, recruiting candidates and turning out voters. And that hard work is starting to pay off.
The GOP will reportedly still hold routine convention meetings in Charlotte to avoid potential lawsuits for violating its contract with North Carolina.
So they’ll end up paying for both places? Or, to be more accurate, they’ll end up promising to pay and then stiffing both places?
Guess Bonkers is just trying to spread the luv.
According to WaPo, NC is one of many states where hospitalizations have dramatically increased since Memorial Day.
Isn’t Jacksonville well within the Sharpie Zone? Wouldn’t it be something if a Cat5 hit just as it was getting underway? That might actually be a good thing for attendees, scaring them away and potentially saving them from contracting the virus.
I grew up in Cleveland Ohio, and remember all of their concerns from 4 years ago when hosting the Republican Convention. Particularly their efforts to prevent violence between the open-carry 2A types and protesters in general - and that was before trump threw the doors wide for his PROFA MAGAts.
If the RNC does go to Jacksonville, I hope your sister and family stay safe!
