Govs. Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) and Mike DeWine (R-OH) on Sunday signaled that it’s time’s up for President Trump to stop holding up President-elect Joe Biden’s formal transition process.
Republicans sure are into “suggestions” these days: Suggesting that people wear masks. Suggesting that meat processors protect their workers. Suggesting the Trump accept the results of a fair election.
The RNC autopsy this time around is going to have a list of suggestions, to BeBest.
Things like"
“Let’s try and not kill off our voters before a general election”
“Let’s try and use more nuanced language when talking about woman, Hispanics, and those other people.”
tRump seems to think that if he doesn’t concede than it means he stays President which demonstrates he never read the Constitution nor has any of his advisors. Conceding is a formality-not necessary. Someone should sit hm down, get a big white poster board and a sharpie and write this is big bold letters:
They don’t. Since they have won the popular vote only once in the last 8 elections (while somehow winning the Presidency in in 3 of them) the last thing the GOP wants is Democracy.
“Well, it is important that we accept the outcome of the election. And there’s a process to get there. It is — there are some constitutional assertions in Pennsylvania, there’s a recount in Georgia,” Hutchinson said. “It is important that those processes go through and that probably is the reason you — the President does not want to undermine those legitimate processes by jumping ahead and conceding the election.”
“But the President has every right to go into court, every right to bring any kind of evidence that he has,” DeWine said. “And no one should begrudge him that or say that there is anything irregular about that.”
No. No goddammit! The lawsuits are not “legitimate processes.” They are not “regular.” We should - we must - “begrudge” Trump that. By these ridiculous legal challenges, by his endless fucking tweets, by his statements, and by his actions, Trump is trying to further undermine our democracy, democratic processes and institutions; call into question and delegitimize Biden’s victory and his presidency; and further divide the nation more than he already has.
It’s wrong, it’s damaging, it threatens the safety and security and future of the country, and these and every other chicken-shit Republican should say so.
If he’s worried about blowback from Biden, that suggests he should have never started down that particular primrose path. I’ll bet he wishes he had dropped off the case like his associate did a few months ago - I’m forgetting her name. Let the chips fall where they may.
Trump can’t concede, his fragile and whacked out psyche won’t let him. You are probably correct that he has never read the constitution, but it wouldn’t matter because though he can be defeated, he can never ever admit defeat.
