GOP Governors Suggest That Trump Stop Delaying Biden’s Formal Transition Process | Talking Points Memo

Probably a hint that what they’ve uncovered would be rich fodder for an investigation into Trump, and thus better to ditch and bury everything.

What Asa Hutchinson calls “legal battles” I call “pathetic displays of megalomania and stupidity.”

Dan Pfeiffer made a good point the other day saying this sort of thing isn’t cowardice, where they want to do the right thing but are afraid to. This is cravenness, he said, because they think it’s to their own political benefit to talk this way. I’m not sure the word “craven” is the best possible choice, when you mean to say it’s disingenuous or whatever. But the underlying point is certainly a good one. They know Biden’s the damn President-elect. It’s absurd to talk about how it’s not formal yet and Trump has this right and that right. There is no right to file baseless lawsuits to overturn an election you’ve clearly lost.

Joe hasn’t tipped his hand yet, but I would be very surprised if he and Ron Klain didn’t understand the gravity of the situation and the importance in holding rogue government officials responsible for their actions while supposedly serving the American people.

There must be a cleansing before we can ever move forward. And I would be very surprised if President Obama wasn’t giving Biden the same advice.

Not to put a fine point on their cravenness, but…

Now that might be cowardice.

“When asked whether he has concerns over his GOP cohorts not accepting the legitimacy of the election due to Trump feeding falsehoods of widespread voter fraud, Hutchinson said that it’s important to accept the outcome of the election while standing by Trump’s legal battles contesting election results.”

That sure is a different way to throw a curve ball as other GOP try their pitch.

“Senator Lankford.Oklahoma” BTW Senator today is Sunday.

And if there aren’t consequences they’ll try it again.

Slightly related topic: Has anyone seen any good enlightening commentary on how the GOP did slightly better in the election than Trump did? Were Republican voters splitting their tickets? If not, how did it happen? I’m super curious about that.

Anyone have a bead on the number of people in the MAGA march yesterday?

I think it’s been classified and stored away on that secret server.

McEneney said that it was 150,000,000,000.

Haven’t seen any commentary, but the results are sobering. The treason party is able to jettison its biggest lump of shit but it is going to double down on the other stuff that make it horrible. There is no ass kicking to reckon with, so their takeaway is that with a less despicable candidate the next time should be easy. Nothing is changing except that hopefully more haters die than are born.

There seems to be some indication that many Republicans who disliked Trump voted Biden and then opted for the Republicans down ticket. In Arizona, Mark Kelly, on the other hand, outperformed Biden. Then there is the Trump effect where miscreants go to the polls only when he’s on the ticket. It’s frightening that control of the House was so close. Divided government appears to be popular among the voters, but we have parliamentary political parties without a parliamentary system. Divided government is a sure path to staticism and unpreparedness for a climate change future.

Speaking of climate change.

The reports I see indicate “tens of thousands”, without being more specific.

A government that actually looks like it’s people. What a concept!

Yes, but that was in her position as campaign advisor. After all, she promised never to lie to us as Press Secretary so she couldn’t have been speaking as Press Secretary.
