A few thousand more elected Republicans like him and we’re getting somewhere. He’s been out front of this shit show for a while now. Maybe time to switch parties.

Baker can’t back Trump and hope to continue in politics in MA, he’d never win office again. Maybe he really means it, but it’s hard to trust any Republicans nowadays…so many of them have just gone along with whatever Trump did simply in the hope that they would get what they want out of the government, and in glee because of how he “triggered the libs”. White supremacy, Russian collusion, casting aspersions on soldiers…irrelevant as long as the wealthy get their tax cuts and they pack the courts with right wing ideologies.

Republicans who say the things Baker is saying have a long road to rescuing the reputation of their party.

Many sanctimonious Republicans have said that they supported Trump because of Judges… Well Trump has already delivered, do they feel they need to keep him around?

I agree. Hogan is getting out there. DeWine would like to but …

I will give him some credit as this will piss off the MA GOP - which are just as crazy as their deep red state counterparts.

Is Susy Collins concerned about this?

The guy has a 78% approval rating, yet the Rs keep running further to the right and having approval numbers in the low 40s on a good day. Makes you wonder what the hell they are thinking (I know, I shouldn’t use “republican” and “thinking” in the same sentence)…

It’s Charlie Baker. Not exactly earth-shattering, but every single one helps.

Baker = country over party, conscience over candidate, principle over recklessness

I am not at all surprised by this. But just you wait until after the election and Satan’s Avatar loses. Then you will see some Republicans peel off because he’s on his way out of power, and once Joe is inaugurated, they’ll start making statements like “He was the worst President of my lifetime.”

That’s right. They will start making a few truthful statements. But deep down, the majority of GOP will remain corrupt and dependent on dark money.

IIRC outside of the usual buttboys and knob polishers the only ironclad endorsement Donnie Covidseed has nailed down is from the Taliban.

Trump is both petty and vindictive. He’s always punching them in the balls. If he wins (unlikely) he could unseat them in their next primaries. And even if he loses, his cult will still remember the slight and may torpedo them in his absence in 2022.
They can’t risk being the first one to stop clapping.

Of course Mass is the bluest state in the country, so Baker has nothing to fear either way.

He’s dead to my uncle for sure and probably my dad

Baker might be a decent guy, but from a retail political standpoint this is basically meaningless. Baker has zero influence in the national Republican Party.

His challenger 2018 was Scott Lively, who won 28% of the primary vote against a sitting governor.. and the guy was batshit-crazy… Full of rage and barely coherent.
Probably everyone just thought he was a protest vote so they didn’t care about competence, but it was a troubling moment for anyone paying attention.

Not so fast. He’s still a Republicon, the party of Lies and the Lying Liars who tell them. It’s still true, you know a man by the company he keeps. Or, as the Bible says: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. Baker needs to switch parties or lose his reputation because right now, he’s keeping company with crooks and charlatans and it’s not a good look.
