They’re only going to get mileage out of the leak with the hard right because literally everyone else is focused on the contents of the leak. Trying to get people to care about who leaked some damming news is a fool’s errand, but it’s really all they’ve got. Again, if they’re so thrilled about SCOTUS killing Roe, why aren’t any of them acting like it?

They needed to soften the blow, get ahead of the story. It’s gonna be ugly no matter how you slice it. What better way than to leak it yourselves and blame the leak on the Dems. Classic misdirection play, right out of Lee Atwater’s playbook.
The pushback on the right was a little too coordinated, it appears that they got a heads up.
Ginni Thomas was the leaker, she tipped off Hawley, Ingrahm, et al, then leaked to Politico.

CNN’s report suggests this leak more likely came from Roberts’ chambers than the most likely other source, Stephen Breyer’s. The most logical explanation for the leak is that Roberts is trying to get his colleagues to adopt a less radical opinion. And if that’s the purpose, it might have the desired effect, both by making it clear what a shit-show the original Alito opinion will set off, but also by exposing the opinion itself to the ridicule and contempt it, as written, deserves.

Mitch McConnell abused Senate rules to block Obama nominees, turning “the world’s greatest deliberative body” from shameless puffery to a total lie, and the chamber to den of hacks. He personally amended the Constitution to remove “Advice and” for confirmations, ushered in liars and fools, and destroyed the Court’s legitimacy.
One half of the country’s highest institutions gone, and the man has still paid no price.

But a medical decision made between a patient and her family and her doctor, is not allowed any privacy at all. Nothing is sacred not even the so-called “sacred” confidentiality of the SC and I doubt that it is written in the Constitution.
