Ever since Republicans realized that Democrats still intended to go ahead with their reconciliation infrastructure bill in lockstep with the bipartisan deal, they’ve been searching for a rationale to oppose the arrangement.
Well sure, but if you can dupe CNN, the NYT et al, it doesn’t matter if you’re lying about this and every other living thing. Controlling the narrative is all that matters.
The Beltway press is very solicitous of GOP fee-fees and the Party of the former Insult-Comic-in-Chief was deeply offended by the fact that the Democrats are working around their obstructionism.
Good faith he says? Mitch has never done this and never will. The press needed conflict and the Senate minority leader was happy to provide it. Not sure how this plays in the all important suburbs but Mitch’s credibility is an instant campaign issue.
Republicans have been negotiating in bipartisan good faith to meet the real infrastructure needs of our nation
"Republicans have been negotiating in bipartisan good faith to meet the real infrastructure needs of our nation,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said in a Monday statement.
Well, that explains why Turtles face looks like it does. Because no one can say that with a straight face.
There has not been bipartisan good faith by the GOP in 21 years.
For the public-facing argument, though, Republican senators have settled on faux fury that they’ve been hoodwinked by Democrats’ insistence on moving the two bills — the bipartisan deal and the reconciliation package — in tandem.
Ok, I have read Josh’s thoughts on this and I just don’t get all the handwringing. My thinking is that the shitty media framing and narrative is super inside baseball that folks who aren’t political junkies never even hear about. Honestly, I heard about the poor media narrative from Josh, not from actually reading an article or seeing a news report advancing that narrative. Also, I really don’t think the narrative that Dems outsmarted the GOP hurts us with many voters who weren’t already dead set against voting for Dems. It does, however, send a message to the Dem base that party leadership is willing to fight dirty. That’s not a bad message to send. At all.
whoa … explain this carefully to me … I’m not sure it makes much sense …
So, “Sleepy Joe” has concocted an intricate scheme that has thoroughly “outwitted” you … comprehensively “hoodwinked” you say? … humm…
you want us to believe that this devious codger just absolutely bamboozled the crap out of you?
and you all are just flat out gobsmacked … dazed and confused and about to completely dissolve into a puddle of tears …
yea… right …
