The GOPSCOTUS is becoming the Rudy Guilianis of Michael Cohens of Billy Barrs.

Should be an easy decision… Since they already ruled that curbside voting changes were too late to implement, rolling back this change is too late to do.

Unless they want everyone to think they’re just an extension of the Republican party…

“the Republicans are arguing that the looser rules are a violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Elections Clause, because they were put into place by an entity other than a state legislature.”

Which of course is Step 1 in constructing the scenario in which GOP state legislatures, and not governors, are the only entities that can throw out election results and appoint pro-Trump electors.

Losing so must set things back as if the middle of summer, nice balmy day, not a care in the world, never heard of COVID…no 300,000 more folks dead this year than last.

anybody else get the sense that the modern repube party would be perfectly ok with hereditary ascendancy to all government positions?

they sure don’t like free and fair elections or the will of the majority

They already want to limit citizenship to being hereditary and voting to wealthy landholders, so why not? If it breaks democracy in their favor, they want it.

Whatever happened to the Supreme Court decision that said “federal courts should be wary of intervening in elections at the last minute because disturbing the status quo can lead to confusion among voters that may deter them from turning out.” (That was CJ Roberts in 2006)

Another unknown is how a newly seated Justice Amy Coney Barrett would respond to the Republicans’ arguments about the Elections Clause.

Really?

Consent decree that two GOP were on the board for. They soon resigned saying they were tricked, but it would indeed be held up in NC State Courts as our Constitution allows this in times of emergencies.

The Republican Party are really interested in making it harder to vote, and now in the time of a global pandemic they’re showing that they really want you to risk your life for your right to vote. They really are modern day Death Eaters.

Death Eaters
They are a terrorist group of wizards and witches, led by the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who seek to purify the wizarding community by eliminating wizards and witches born to non-magical parents.

Quite a few similarities to the characters in the HP movies.

So it turns out that the House, Senate, and President, are Proxy for the Court.

They’re really not trying to be subtle here, are they?

They must be terrified of losing the election.

Only 12 more days, I think I can make it. Maybe less if the GOP gets it’s way and ends voting on Nov 2nd, or the 1st because that’s a Sunday and it’s when Daylight Savings Time ends, so voting too.

Another GOPedo, too.

So, for the voter who mailed a ballot after being told there was an extension, instead of waiting to vote in person, is there any redress if the High Court removes the extension retroactively?

This would seem to dictate there should be a very high bar for the Supreme Court to monkey around with this case.
