Gloomy Economic Forecasts Follow Manchin’s Build Back Better Blowup

Economic forecasters are downgrading predictions for the United States’ GDP growth in 2022 following news that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) will oppose the Build Back Better reconciliation bill in its current form.

Maybe he can explain that to his constituents.

Hopefully, the voters will realize that the antidote to Joe Manchin is more Democrats in the Senate. I’m not holding my breath.

Republicans couldn’t be happier. Now they can start 2022 by saying Biden’s a failure and everyone should vote GOP so they alone can fix it.
And we know what that means.

Hopefully Manchin’s billionaire masters will realize that he is pushing the country into a recession and that will hurt them as much as the rest of us.

Let’s see, besides West Virginia, what’s another shithole state that could really benefit from BBB.

Oh, yeah. Maine.

How’s Susan Collins working out for you guys?

Christmas came early yesterday for my Trump loving, Fox New addicted father-in-law. He was so happy about Manchin that my mother-in-law, a Democrat, was texting my wife about how awful his gloating was.

I’ve placed this article and a study that showed 90% of people that left the workforce in Nov were over 55 and that it isn’t lazy, young people quitting jobs to live on the dole, in my back pocket for Christmas Eve. Fun times ahead!

The issue is we need to motivate Dems to vote in non presidential years. 1994, 2010, 2022?? It’s hard to motivate when “we suck but they’re worse”…

Maybe the Supreme Court will save the Democratic party by reversing Roe v Wade.

They spend more time on the blowup than what to do about it.

Feckless.

They know what to do: pass the damn bill.

Well maybe our valiant job-creators will stop whining about having to pay market-rate for labor.

Inspiring that one man can torpedo economic forecasts, and all for such clear, consistent, and important reasons he won’t tell anyone.

Shorter Manchin: Can’t have them poors getting things for free. Free things are for people who self-deal their way to yachts and Maseratis.

I don’t expect one single Republican to vote Democratic because of the banning of abortion. And independents are only closeted Republican voters . But even if some do, it would not make any difference because the states where abortion will be banned are firmly in GOP control. Keep in mind that people only care about abortion when they need one.

Problem is, these kinds of “moneyed masters” can make money whether the economy is going up or down. Not sure this is a big issue for them.

The root cause is the structure and function of the Senate itself and there’s little that we can do to fix it without 60 Democratic senators and a kind of “religious conversion” to progressivism in red states.

The Senate is like Star Trek’s Scotty’s star ship engineering quote: “The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.”

(And perhaps stopping up the drain is exactly what the Senate was designed to do.)

Some days I wonder if he’s angling for a spot in a 2024 Republican administration.

They love him for it.
