Rudy Giuliani said Monday night that the State Department asked him to take a meeting with a top aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the days after a July 25 phone call between Zelensky and President Trump.
So who is he representing? If it’s the US, then wouldn’t Congress have some say about who should be representing the country–like approving the appointment of an ambassador or a member of the State Department who has been vetted and approved (ummm, paging Sec. Pompeo, cleanup on Ukraine aisle). Giuliani would never be approved for any appointment by Trump for a position needing Senate confirmation.
Trump ordered Pompeo (with the knowledge of the rest of the cabinet?) to send Giuliani to Ukraine, so that exonerates Trump because he did not personally tell Rudy to go or what to talk about. Yep, sounds right for Trump–remember he used Cohen as the go between him and Stormy Daniels, so he thinks the hush money payments were a-ok since he did not personally make them.
Because dog knows the State Department has no Ukraine specialists to discuss how to build a relationship with the new president.
Oops. WTF am I thinking. The Ukraine specialist doesn’t have the shakedown skills needed for this mission.
