Did Rudy get a heads-up on this from one of NYFBI buddies and pass it along to these two schmucks?

Hmmmmmmm…gotta be pretty boneheaded to think to flee now. Any half-wit would understand that the FBI would be tracking their whereabouts.
Of course, if they are #RudyColludy’s clients, as he claimed, there is a very high probability that they received some really, really bad advice.

Awesome! These two jamokes were involved in illegal campaign finance (trump and DeSantis, at least) AND they’re mixed up in the attempt to take over the Ukrainian natural gas co. I have great hopes that Rudi Giuliani will shortly finally get his.

So Occam’s razor suggests they were arrested as literal flight risks, and not as a chess move to keep them from testifying to Congress, doesn’t it? I’d certainly prefer to think that.

Yes, after Italy (where we got some photos of him and his wife in the Vatican with with Newtie Gingrich’s robot wife), he was supposed to go on to Greece and to Montenegro.
No photos, no reports, no nada. No date of return. He’s gone completely off the radar.
One must ask why…

Oh, I think the State of New York is just as interested in having them appear before the House Committees as the rest of us are.
They may just let those guys go to give their testimony in shackles, to ensure they don’t get any more ideas about trying to run away. After all, they are momentarily still in the DC aream not back in NY.
Or perhaps they are going to get them appear via Skype. Or spill their guts on paper and deliver that to the Committee Chairs.
There are a variety of scenarios…

OK but they’re in the system on the federal side—this came from the Southern District of New York, which is federal but traditionally relatively independent if somewhat reined in lately. So it’s hard to figure out who’s playing what angles here.

True, I’d missed that implication. Although, frankly, it’s hard to imagine the Feds arresting them at all, if their not testifying was the goal – they could have just said “oops, got away” and shrug.

You recall the interview where Barr noted that “everybody dies”? My guess is he’s reconsidering that response, inasmuch as he’s decided that “dying in jail” is actually worse than dying peacefully in bed, at home. But I’m only guessing.

I love it when they just walk up on these guys in the airport. You’re just about to get the hell out of Dodge and whoops, these guys are in your way and they’ve got those rather distinctive IDs out and you know your day has suddenly gone way downhill.

That reported flight out of the country would have made Parnas and Fruman no-shows for their scheduled congressional testimony on Thursday and Friday

Does anyone in this cabal have a lick of sense? If you have the heat up your ass you don’t go to a major USA international airport and try to fly out. You drive to the Florida Keys and book a night boat to Cuba. Then fly as you will.
