Admiral Brett Giroir, assistant HHS secretary, was grilled on COVID-19 testing delays amid surges of coronavirus cases across the country during an interview on CNN Sunday.
“Nobody in the task force is afraid to bring up anything to the Vice President or the President,” Giroir said. “Every time I’ve met with the President, he’s been listening to all the data, he assesses that, he understands it.”
So this is all an act on Trump’s part? Acting and talking like he has no clue about viruses, and stopping them? This quote needs to be preserved for the upcoming trial.
I can hear Trump’s lawyer now: “the Admiral is not a mind reader and this is hearsay: no one knows what the president hears much less what he assesses or understands …[sotto voce] and that goes for the president himself.”
Giroir: “Everybody in the administration understands the critical importance of putting out the wildfire raging through the city, incinerating whole city blocks and killing thousands.”
Trump on TV in the background: “The radical left fake news fire is totally under control. I’ve told my people to reduce water pressure to fire hydrants so that people can flush their toilets.”
Even if no one has ever said “stop the testing!”, the lack of prioritizing testing has effectively done the same. For something like this, test results really need to come back immediately…a week or more to get a result is basically worthless if you’re trying to stop the spread of a disease that’s in the community. Leaders that understood that would be pushing for some kind of daily or instant test that was available across the nation and easily accessible to everyone.
I still don’t understand why all of these people who know that Trump has fucked this up by the numbers continue to try to defend his performance. His failed leadership, his inability to push for the important things over the past few months, have left the US on the precipice of massive amounts of sick and dead people that will overwhelm the medical system. There’s no honor in defending that, and history will judge them all as harshly as they will Trump.
I suspect the first sentence is true – Trump may be a fake don but he is notorious for letting his minions know his illicit preferences without actually voicing them directly – but by that same token the second sentence is clearly a lie: “more tests” and “quicker” may have been discussed as if it was desirable but that is not the real instruction and Admiral Giroir damn well knows it.
“Nobody in the task force is afraid to bring up anything to the Vice President or the President,” Giroir said. “Every time I’ve met with the President, he’s been listening to all the data, he assesses that, he understands it.”
Yeah? Maybe he hasn’t heard the IC was reluctant to verbally brief Trump regarding Putin’s bounties on our troops because he would fly into a rage when presented with such information. Meanwhile, our troops are still out there with practically a literal price tag on their heads.
Why is there any expectation of competence when considering Donald Trump’s Flying FUBAR Circus?
Building the Wall … cluster fluck - 3 miles of new wall built …
Hurricane rebuilding in Puerto Rico - could not have done worse if they were intending to harm
California fires - ?? idiots
COVID-19 … dunces
seems the only thing that Trump approaches with diligence and enthusiasm - is spreading insults and lies about other people.
