Ginsburg Says She Feels Very Much Alive | Talking Points Memo

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is maintaining her positive outlook.

During an appearance at the National Book Festival in Washington, DC, Saturday, Ginsburg said that her work on the Supreme Court has “kept me going” through four bouts of cancer and that she is “on my way to being very well,” according to the Washington Post.

Ha! Surprise! Just the other day, I had enough of their mailings and used their self-addressed stamped envelope to send them a note to stop cluttering up my mailbox with their trash.

Someday, I’ll stop hyperventilating into a paper bag whenever I see a “Justice Ginsburg” headline.

Someday…

I wonder if her magic elixir depends in part on the anguished tears of conservatives.

I’m almost at the point where I’d consider lighting candles for Justice Ginsburg and her ongoing health issues. This btw is said by a very absentee Catholic.

A Ginsburg departure from the bench would be devastating for the country. My heart sank when I read the report of Ginsburg’s most recent treatment, only to be made more terrible by my sister-in-law’s death last week. From pancreatic cancer.

A cruel, awful disease!

Her own is probably in much better shape, even with the cancer scares.

I think if fervent prayers and secular “visualizing” can do a person any good she’ll live to 109.

Way OT (RGB Godspeed), but was looking into the Native American vote (about 1.6% of population, 70-80% off the res, but has a 1-10% lower voter turnout than the general populace. Dems like Sanders, Warren, others have cultivated the NA vote, but more needs to be done. Anyhow, this op-ed paragraph I thought was well stated.

“It’s not the only way that Natives are rhetorically erased. Politicians like to say that we are a nation of immigrants, which is absolutely false. We are a nation of immigrants and indigenous peoples and people who were brought here against their will. To say otherwise is fiction, a convenient one that scrubs America’s story clean of its forefathers’ sins.”

Again, I am all for Dems actively pursuing the NA vote. I hope the Dem candidate makes this a major issue.

I’m not there yet. Just saw videos of her discussing her health. Her body is frail (needs to lean on others while walking) but her mind is sharp.

You know, I’m not sure Elaine Chao would mind all that much.

I hope you also put all the “literature” they sent in the return envelope.

What I did was write my note on the letter that came with the packet. I’d have had to pay postage if I sent back the “literature”, and that was a bridge too far.

My sister died from pancreatic cancer, which is indeed a cruel, awful disease. All good wishes to the Notorious RBG.
