The delays that the pandemic caused to the 2020 census will take the state redistricting process into uncharted territory.

It’s almost like no state in the history of the US ever teased out what would have to happen if the Kansas Flu of 1918 had happened in 19010 or 1920. Or that there could possible be some form of disruption in the decennial census.

some are now hinting that they might turn to other data sources as they at least start their redistricting processes.

This would be a real gift to Gerry and Mander if it survived court challenges, of which there will surely be many.

The GOP has been using other data sources for a while. That’s how WI got its districts last time ar

The obvious solution would be to draw maps based on the available population data and adjust them as necessary when the census data becomes available. The preliminary district maps are not going to be so far off that the maps can’t be readily revised. And if you don’t want to call another legislative session to do the tweaking, create a limited purpose commission to do it or create a cause of action so the courts can do it

Republicans accept a 50/50 chance of screwing their voters with a mistake. They are willing to do that, because they still believe they can lure their voters into accepting their lies.

The lives of Republican voters wasn’t better under Trump.

Republicans are determined to find any way to destroy democracy. There will be much litigation over
their “solutions.” If this political party doesn’t implode, it will be very disappointing.
