GA Rep. Who Was Arrested For Knocking On Kemp’s Door Will Not Be Prosecuted

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said on Wednesday that Georgia state Rep. Park Cannon (D) will not be prosecuted after she was arrested for knocking on Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s (R) door as he was signing the Republicans’ voter suppression bill almost two weeks ago.

“Surprise, surprise, surprise.”

I understand prosecuting high-profile people who didn’t commit a crime can be difficult.

She needs to sue for false arrest, among other things.

Fun Fact: General assembly sessions now consist of seven white guys performing a photo-up in front a painting of a slave plantation.

It couldn’t have been the optics.
That decision had to have been made without regard to how it would look.

“While some of Representative Cannon’s colleagues and the police officers involved may have found her behavior annoying, such sentiment does not justify a presentment to a grand jury of the allegations in the arrest warrants or any other felony charges,”

That is pretty much an admonishment to all those involved in trying this. Oh well…

Someone’s knocking at the door
Somebody’s ringing the bell
Someone’s knocking at the door

Do me a favour
Open the door
And let 'em in

Good. I don’t want Ms. Willis distracted from prosecuting Donald Fucking Trump.

Hello lawsuit for unlawful arrest and violation of civil rights. Prosecutor got out of the way of this one and rightfully so.

“You’ve probably seen this picture of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and his gaggle of white men signing the state’s voter suppression law…”

What would lead Cannon to believe black people have anything to say about laws governing voting rights in the South in 2021 America?

That’s so magnanimous of Mr. Willis! Imagine: he caught someone, red handed, knocking on someone else’s door and chose not to throw her in jail for it. Who says that heroes don’t still walk among us?

The decision to arrest her was made by the Sgt at Arms; he did not want ‘any trouble’ like January 6. There were only 1/2 dozen black women I could see with her.

Just a BAD decision by the SAA.

It’s the RoJo Principle (not that he actually has any): Good ole boys who love law enforcement aren’t threatening. BLM-looking folks are threatening.

Ask any black man how much “trouble” 6 angry black women can wreak.

“Knocking while Black” isn’t a statute, I guess.

She most certainly does, and she need to make it a really big suit, enough to make it hurt.

She won’t. She knows any payment will come out of the public coffers, not the police dept. budget.
